AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group includes Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy and Strategic Communications. Across paid, earned, shared and owned channels, ICM manages AARP's reputation, drives engagement and member growth, and showcases AARP's mission and value through one, integrated voice. The Director, Advertising Policies directs the vetting process of potential advertisers to ensure products are legal with no reputational risks to the organization, unsubstantiated claims, or misleading sales tactics. Advises media sales and contract sales teams on revenue opportunities that comply with advertising guidelines. Consults with cross-functional teams and legal on the vetting of potential sponsors and business partners. Responsibilities Oversees the development of and updates to the organization's Advertising Guidelines with input from Policy, Office of General Counsel, Advocacy and/or other internal experts.Protects the organization from reputational risk by overseeing vetting of all potential advertisers.Manages the review and approval of creatives from approved advertisers to meet look and tone standards.Manages all interactions with ASI Media Solutions sales team, as well as contract rep firms.Engages with potential advertisers and their agencies to explain Advertising Guidelines and provides in-depth research, reviewing potential organization relationships.Manages vetting for the Office of General Counsel and other departments of potential sponsors, partners, etc.Oversees Ombudsman, who handles members complaints about advertisers, often negotiating refunds.Leads extensive reporting efforts, including contributions of quarterly operating reports to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Qualifications Bachelor's degree with over 10 years of experience in assessing and implementing advertising policies.Familiarity with advertising concepts and practices.Experience in delivering presentations effectively.Proven proficiency in utilizing the Salesforce platform.Experience in people management, with a focus on developing and enhancing team performance.Strong collaborative skills, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation.Preferred: Master's degree.Experience in interpreting advertising policies.AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Additional Requirements Regular and reliable job attendance.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Exhibit respect and understanding of others to maintain professional relationships.Independent judgement in evaluation options to make sound decisions.In office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise.Hybrid Work Environment AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
