The Director, Clinical Trial Project Management (CTPM) is responsible for leading a team of Clinical Trial Project Managers with responsibility for creating, managing and maintaining the integrated project schedule at the trial level. The CTPM Director's team also includes individuals (Accelerando) whose project management expertise is broadly applicable, and deployed in a targeted fashion toward prioritized initiatives, projects, and critical path analyses. The CTPM Director is responsible for embedding project management best practices within their team and across Delivery Units (DUs) as well as driving system or process innovation to continuously improve delivery.
Provide operational leadership of Clinical Trial Project Managers and Sr. Clinical Trial Project Managers.
Ensure team members have competencies and operational knowledge to execute clinical trials according to protocol, required timelines, International Guidelines for Good Clinical Practice, international and national SOPs and local procedures and regulations.
Support team members with problem solving and issue resolution.
Oversee resource allocation for assigned TA portfolio(s) to ensure optimal utilization of resources and support for portfolio objectives.
Ensure strong collaboration between the Clinical Trial Project Managers, Clinical Delivery Leaders, Clinical Trial Leaders, Clinical Trial Managers, Global Clinical Trial Assistants, Global Development & other functional partners, and Clinical Team members.
Set operational objectives for the team in alignment with company, project team, departmental objectives.
Ensure staff are trained on procedures and systems associated with their assigned tasks. Perform administrative tasks associated with performance reviews, salary administration, and other personnel issues.
Develop and implement monitoring, escalation, and mitigation processes for clinical CDT commitments and program-level risks and issues.
Develop processes and tools to manage study and program budgets consistently.
Develop scenarios in PLW for budget, timeline, and FTE forecasting, while generating situational operational scenarios.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors of Science degree or equivalent, preferred areas of study include Life Sciences (Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nursing, Pharmacy) Business is required.
Required:
Minimum of 10 years in Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or related industries is required.
Experience in and knowledge of the pharmaceutical development process is required.
Clinical research operational knowledge is required.
Minimum 2 years prior line management experience or 3-5 years matrixed leadership experience is required.
Experience in Project Management, preferably within Research & Development. Knowledge of Project Management Systems, Methodologies & Tools is required.
Must possess excellent leadership skills and proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness.
Excellent decision-making &analytical skills are essential to this position is required.
Operate and execute with limited supervision is required.
Ability to support and participate in the hiring, training, development, and evaluation of staff on a regular basis is required.
Ability to support and participate in the training, development, and evaluation of staff on a regular basis is required.
Strong project planning/management, communication and presentation skills are required.
Travel up to 15% of the time, defined by business needs.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $157,000 - $271,400.
The anticipated base pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA is $193,000 to $312,110.
The compensation and benefits information set forth in this posting applies to candidates hired in the United States. Candidates hired outside the United States will be eligible for compensation and benefits in accordance with their local market.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
