This role will partner closely with our Enterprise ESG, Legal, Real Estate, Climate Risk, HR, SOX, Internal Audit and subject matter teams owning E, S and G data across the organization, to ensure that we remain well coordinated and ready to meet our ESG regulatory reporting requirements.

Build capabilities in terms of people, processes, internal controls and systems (including the evaluation of reporting software workflows) to meet all mandatory ESG reporting requirements globally.
Build a reporting process to construct mandatory enterprise level ESG reports (e.g. for CSRD and California)
Develop and operationalize standardized policies and processes regarding sustainability reporting (e.g., materiality assessments, disclosure controls and procedures, estimation approaches)
Collaborate with key internal control and compliance teams (SOX, Operational Excellence and Internal Audit) to ensure that ESG data processes include the right level of controls and governance to be 'assurance ready'.
Coordinates readiness assessments and assurance activities over ESG disclosures, where required.
Work with data provider teams around the organization to collect the data required to support mandatory ESG disclosures.
Support the production of the Greenhouse Gas Inventory.
Build cross-functional partnerships within American Express, particularly with Enterprise ESG, Legal, HR, Climate Risk, Real Estate, Treasury and Controllership stakeholders.
Participate in external ESG forums and engage with other public registrants on ESG disclosure and reporting matters. Conduct ESG benchmarking and develop recommendations to enhance ESG reporting
Lead a global team of colleagues and contractors based in India and US
Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
