RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure programs are in place to check that all business & site operations are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, operating permits, and company ESHQ policies.
Ensure compliance with environmental requirements and establish a plan to anticipate potential changing requirements. Focus in this area is critical.
Report non-compliance issues to site, region, and segment management so they can be addressed on a timely basis.
Manage the environmental, safety, health, and security department for optimum performance and a technically competent staff.
Ensure Performance Planning (PM) and development plans are in place for all staff, and hold reports accountable for successful completion of predefined goals and objectives.
Establish site & departmental goals and effectively communicate direction, objectives, and results as needed to the department, plant site, & Evonik.
Work with site leadership to create the desired safety culture for the site, and Evonik.
Be a champion for productivity and change initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, etc.). Master's degree strongly preferred.
5+ years broad experience in managing EHS regulatory compliance in a chemical manufacturing facility.
An additional 5+ years of similar experience as an individual contributor role also strongly desired in some or all the key areas in the pharmaceutical industry: Process Safety Analysis | Environmental Permitting Obligations | Industrial Hygiene.
Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, HMR, DHS, etc.).
Proven ability to lead a group of people toward common objectives.
Demonstrated skill in influencing across functions is essential.
Ability to focus on continuous improvement and results deployment initiatives.
Accurate and proficient analytical skills and strong problem-solving skills.
Must be capable of reviewing, evaluating, and setting ESHS policy.
Additional experience leading 24/7 shift coverage is desired.
