PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Director Finance - Foundation at our Tysons, Virginia location. The PenFed Foundation is seeking an experienced individual responsible for supporting all aspects of its financial operations including controllership, tax compliance, budgeting and financial reporting. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for oversight of the Foundation's venture capital investment fund's outsourced accounting and financial reporting operations.
The Director of Finance and Administration will be responsible for the development of the annual budget of the PenFed Foundation including management and board presentations. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the monthly accounting close performed by an outsourced accounting team is accurate and timely by creating and maintaining monthly oversight routines and review forums with Foundation management. On an annual basis, the Director will liaise and take the lead on coordinating the Foundation annual audit and tax filings between the outsourced accounting firm and independent audit firm.
Additionally, the Director of Finance and Administration will oversee and direct the Foundation's venture capital fund accounting and investor reporting operations which includes direct oversight of internal and external personnel. This position requires the individual to take full ownership of assigned responsibilities and manage the development of team members.
Reporting to the Vice President Foundation Operations, the Director will closely collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial expertise. The Director of Finance and Administration is a key role designed to ensure financial excellence in a fast-paced organization that will oversee all aspects of financial operations.
Responsibilities Provide leadership in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting to support operational and strategic decisions.Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of strategic plans with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting outcomes.Ensure operational efficiency while implementing financial initiatives.Develop and implement strategic financial plans that align with the goals of the Foundation.Serve as the primary liaison on financial matters, ensuring clear communication and alignment across the Foundation and its stakeholders.Financial Management and Reporting Direct day-to-day financial operations and the completion of major financial deliverables, including budget preparation, financial reporting, cash flow management, and expenditure control.Monitor financial performance and prepare regular financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.Ensure compliance with institutional policies, GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.Develop and maintain financial reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders to analyze trends and identify risks and opportunities.Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.Support the preparation of grants and ensure their compliance to institution, funding source, and federal guidelines and regulations.Qualifications Minimum of 10+ years' experience in corporate accounting function.Highly motivated; Self-starter.Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities.An innovative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to own and see projects to completion.Strong ability to manage and develop junior team members.Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.Supervisory Responsibility This position will supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications CPA strongly preferred.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
Travel Ability to travel to various worksites due to coverage needs is required.
