Position SummaryThe Director of Financial Aid Services plays an integral role in enrollment services at the University, providing proactive leadership as a senior member of the Enrollment team while anticipating and responding appropriately to external challenges and regulatory changes. Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Financial Aid and Compliance, the Director of Financial Aid Services is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive financial aid services for students from federal, state, institutional, institutional payment plans, and private sources.
The Director of Financial Aid Services administers the Roosevelt's financial aid budget to maximize enrollment and reduce accounts receivable while maintaining full compliance with all federal, state, and University regulations, policies, and procedures. The Director of Financial Aid Services develops strong working relationships with the Registrar, Bursar, Student Affairs, and other key partners across the University.
This is a full-time, at will, exempt position with a hybrid schedule based out of the Chicago Campus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredA bachelor's degree in a related field.A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated progressive leadership and supervision experience in a financial aid office at a college or university.Strong understanding of financial aid theories, and federal, state, institutional and private sources of financial aid, federal and state regulations.Knowledge of technology including utilization of the student information system to improve process and customer service.Experience with strategic financial aid systems and predictive modeling.Ability to communicate effectively with students, prospective students, faculty and staff, and local community members.Knowledge of general financial aid theories, procedures, and federal and state financial aid programs required.Evidence of working as a team member with an emphasis on student-centered educational philosophy.Knowledge of basic management skills and counseling techniques necessary.Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated record of success in team building and collaboration efforts.Significant experience in planning, change management, problem solving, and organizing processes and people.Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.Ability to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by embodying Roosevelt's core values, mission, and vision in every aspect of the role working with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.A positive and professional demeanor is a must.Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Years of Experience Required8

Job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 10 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition. Moderate level of stress. Occasional travel within the local or regional setting may be required.
Essential Job FunctionsManagement:Leads a department of financial aid professionals in processing financial aid and delivering exemplary customer service to current and prospective students and their families.
Oversight:Acts as the institutional liaison for all State of Illinois programs. This includes student eligibility, reporting, and reconciliation.
Technology:Maximize the implementation and employment of information technology systems to seamlessly manage administration of financial aid and to provide financial aid information and support to students. Other duties as assigned.
