Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director-Food and Nutrition Services- Full Time. In this role, the successful candidate directs and manages all Food and Nutritional Department services daily operations and activities including retail and catering, providing a consistently high-quality service and sanitary environment throughout the hospital while ensuring that state, local, federal, and Joint Commission regulations and performance standards are met. Responsible for managing the department's daily operations to achieve established quality improvement, fiscal productivity, and patient satisfaction goals. Responsible for staff performance and accomplishing departmental responsibilities following corporate hospital department and safety policies and procedures to meet hospital and regulatory requirements. The Director shall oversee the patient meal assembly and service and all aspects of cash operations including cafeteria, catering cart service, customer service programs, and departmental sanitation.
Job Responsibilities: Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's core values and incorporates them into performing duties.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of codes relevant to Food Service including HACCP and TJC standards and departmental policies and procedures assuring consistent and sustained compliance within the department.Assures appropriate staffing with skilled nutrition professionals and ensures they comply with policies and procedures throughout the department.Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health.Achieves world-class food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests.Monitors and maintains customer service and quality improvement programs.Ensures high employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and a culture of excellence.Eliminates waste, assures portion and product control, and adheres to budget relevant to services.Assures staff training and in-service programs including completion of the initial job training and ensures that each employee has their annual health assessment and performance evaluations completed.Implements and monitors the training program for all pertinent personnel on the use and maintenance of equipment, proper use and maintenance of workspace, and service and presentation of food.Stays abreast of current trends, codes, and changing standards in food service. Assures that NYULH Long Island provides state-of-the-art nutrition care.The Director will maintain an open line of communication with the Vice President of Support Services, Health System Culinary leaders, and other members of the Health System Food and Nutrition team and the healthcare team.The Director will work closely with labor relations, dealing appropriately and promptly with all personnel including unionized staff, and will respond swiftly providing conflict resolution.Prepares, reviews, and monitors accounting and financial reports to maintain accurate cash/charge handling protocols and participates in the auditing process.Establishes/maintains the appropriate par levels for food/non-food supplies to ensure operational efficiency and eliminate waste in retail food venues.The Director is responsible for directing the staff's selection, orientation, training, and performance evaluations to assess competency and provide the opportunity for personal/professional development with a hospitality focus.The Director shall stay abreast of current trends and changing standards in food service. Assures their ongoing training. Reviews data and findings, setting goals and objectives for the operation. Works closely with the management team valuing and utilizing their input and suggestions. Responds to changing goals of the Health System. Ensures that thorough and clear communications are made to all food & nutrition teams including managers, supervisors, and dietary staff.Following The Joint Commission and all federal, state, and local regulations, maintains a sanitary, safe, and efficient operation.Maintains the department's information system ensuring Long Island's EMR EPIC/CBORD information interface accuracy.Designs, directs, and implements a food service program that meets and exceeds established standards for Clinical Nutrition Services, Patient Safety, and Service Improvement goals.Participates in the development and management of the operating and capital budgets through appropriate review and supervision of resource utilization including the development and implementation of cost savings and revenue generation strategies to meet departmental/organizational goals.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Food Nutrition or Culinary Arts, 6-8 years of experience in related areas of Food Service Management, and ServSafe Protection Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Food Nutrition and Registered Dietitian, ten years of expansive experience in related areas of Food Service Management.

The salary range for the role is $139,065.62 - $182,311.89 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
