Job Description



The Director, Global Spend Transparency, will be responsible for developing, driving, and optimizing the strategic direction and governance of the Spend Transparency program globally. This role will serve as Vertex's subject matter expert for Transparency Reporting and will be accountable for global report execution. This role will be responsible for building and leading strategic initiatives to streamline and effectively meet the unique business needs and scale of the organization. Exceptional communication, collaboration and problem solving are required. This role will partner closely with colleagues across both Legal and Compliance and will serves as the primary Business Partner to Senior Leaders globally.



Key Duties and Responsibilities:



Lead the strategy, vision, operations & governance for Spend Transparency program globally.



Accountable for timely and accurate execution of disclosures across multiple jurisdictions.



Responsible for ongoing assessment of Vertex's geographic footprint to ensure program strategy and reporting methodology are compliant, fit for purpose and scale globally. Develops strong spend transparency compliance controls in order to meet global reporting requirements.



Leadership and oversight of master service provider and spend transparency technology.



Responsible for policy development, compliance & governance of Global Spend Transparency policy.



Ownership of transparency dashboards, leveraging data trends & insights to drive compliance to policy and inform decision making and strategy.



Proactively anticipates and addresses business needs, takes leadership role in assessing processes, tools, and policies to strengthen the program and enhance efficiencies.



Impactfully influence stakeholders to drive transformation and business partnership. Proactively anticipates and addresses business needs beyond one's direct scope, spearheading cross functional alignment and collaboration with Legal, Data Privacy, Compliance, Global Travel & Expense and Global Meeting & Events.



Leads Global Spend Transparency team members, ensuring operational excellence through strategic prioritization of tasks, resource allocation, master service provider support and creation of metrics and dashboards to assess data, forecast, and identify trends.



Develops talent within the team, evaluates performance, sets the team vision, priorities and goals. Provides leadership, coaching and guidance to ensure functional and corporate goals are achieved



Responsible for developing the annual team budget, defining support models and workforce planning.



Builds and maintains strong partnerships with C-Suite and Senior Leadership.



Knowledge and Skills:



Proven experience leading a Spend Transparency function on a global scale.



Expert knowledge of spend transparency laws, disclosures, regulations and industry codes. Direct experience with global transparency reporting including US Sunshine Act, EFPIA Disclosures, and/or European disclosure laws.



Ownership and accountability of spend reporting technology and master service provider partnership.



Exhibits exceptional analytical acumen, leveraging the value of data to identify innovative and strategic insights and decision making.



Exceptional influencing skills, ability to develop impactful business cases and present persuasive ideas to drive alignment and impact change.



Advanced operational and project management skills, ability to drive alignment, streamline processes and mitigate complexities across multi-functional, global teams.



Exceptional presentation and influencing skills, expertly influencing Senior Leaders and C-Suite with data-driven insights tailored to address pressing business needs and challenges.



Demonstrate exceptional adaptability, essential for thriving in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.



Leverage understanding of the interdependencies between various functional areas within the organization to drive informed decisions, deliver recommendations, and steer the business toward successful outcomes.



Pioneer continuous improvements and innovation through the development of strategic business processes.



Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to build trusted partnerships globally across all levels of the organizations including Senior Leaders.



Advanced leadership skills, coaching and mentoring direct reports.



Prior working experience with Transparency reporting technology



Experience working with a Master Data Management system



Ownership of PowerBi dashboards.

Education and Experience:



Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or University



Typically requires 12 years of relevant experience in transparency, risk, control, compliance or similar functions.



7 years leading a Spend Transparency function globally including people management responsibilities.



Previous pharmaceutical experience required

1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
