Position Overview:The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Director of Health Care Policy. The Director of Health Care Policy serves as a key advisor, issue expert and lobbyist for the NAM and its members on a range of issues, including biopharmaceutical innovation, employer-sponsored health coverage, retirement benefits, transparency, supply chain resiliency, pricing and more.
This position is responsible for analyzing legislative and regulatory proposals and working with the VP of Domestic Policy to develop and execute legislative and regulatory strategies on designated issues to advance manufacturers' priorities. This person will also be responsible for working closely with key internal stakeholders, including membership (to identify issues and communicate updates on priority items), public affairs and marketing (to inform NAM advocacy campaigns, demonstrate value to our membership on assigned issues and identify opportunities to enhance NAM's public-facing work), and legal (to analyze statutory and procedural impacts of legislative and regulatory proposals).
The successful candidate has a track record of working successfully with policymakers on the designated issues and is able to analyze and communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly to a variety of audiences. Experience with public speaking, including engagement with the media, is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:Work proactively and collaboratively with other policy experts and internal groups to develop and execute advocacy strategies.Serve as a voice for manufacturers before relevant policymakers on Capitol Hill and in the Administration.Work closely with key leaders at the NAM's 14,000 member companies to identify policy priorities.Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about the NAM's policy work.Ensure that the NAM is responsive to the needs of manufacturers on the assigned policy issues.At the discretion of NAM leadership, this position may be used for background press interviews.Qualifications:A minimum of 8+ years of related Capitol Hill, Executive Branch and/or Association policy development experience.Exceptional understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quality and goal-driven environment.Salary Range:$106,000 – 140,000 annually. This salary range represents a good faith estimate of the lowest to the highest salary for this position. The final salary offered will be based on qualifications and experience.
