About This RoleK-State invites applications for the Information Technology Director position, which supports IT needs across the Provost Office units. Reporting directly to IT and embedded in the Provost Office, the director will provide strategic IT leadership for the Provost Office and its units and serve as a critical thought partner and leader as the university works to transform the organizational IT infrastructure in support of the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan.
This position is part of an initiative to transform how we strategically manage, support, and organize our IT infrastructure and services by aligning IT as a strategic partner to all academic and administrative units. By being embedded within the Provost Office, the IT Director serves as a liaison between Provost units and IT staff and collaboratively develops and implements IT plans that align with the Provost Office's strategic goals.
The goals of this reorganization are to:
Improve coordination and collaboration through a unified reporting structure.Improve the ability to offer consistent technical experiences for our workforce, instructional spaces, and research areas.Implement consistent training for our IT workforce to meet technical standards and best practices.Enhance cybersecurity and risk management through improved oversight.We are seeking a leader to join us in this bold initiative and help drive our IT transformation forward.
About UsThe IT Director assisting the Provost Office will possess specialized skills to update and integrate essential systems required to deliver the university's educational mission and will lead academic data security efforts.

What You'll Need to SucceedMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of relevant experienceAbility to be available after hours and on weekends for emergenciesPreferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science, information technology or a related fieldExperience in technology troubleshooting, assisting, and trainingExperience administering servers in small to medium-sized server environmentsExperience managing IT staff members responsible for providing front-line support for hardware and university and departmental IT systemsExperience conducting and directing research into IT issues and productsExperience working in a higher education environment with expertise in existing and emerging technologies and trends focused on the student experience, enrollment and registration, and supporting teaching, learning, and academic innovationExperience building business case scenarios and working with technology allocation and budgetsExtensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentA working knowledge of emerging AI opportunities and technologies across teaching, learning, and administrative environmentsOther Requirements: Strong leadership skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of an organizationAbility to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly languageHighly self-motivated and directedKeen attention to detailProven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentExceptional customer service orientationHow to ApplyPlease submit the following documents:
