Full job description POSITION DESCRIPTION DIRECTOR, INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING, EFFECTIVENESS, ACCREDITATION, AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENT: Academic Services
CLASSFICIATION: Exempt-Full Time
SALARY RANGE: $60,000-$70,000 (Depending on qualifications)
FUNCTION: The Director for Institutional Effectiveness, Accreditation and Research (IPEAR), provides
leadership and guidance in the areas of institutional research, effectiveness, accountability, accreditation, data
reporting, and assessment that includes, but is not limited to institutional, program, and unit/departmental level
assessment. Through collaboration and communication with key campus constituents, the Director is
responsible for sharing and applying research findings, campus assessment initiatives, analysis and reporting of
institutional assessment data, generation of internal and external reports, and monitoring campus accountability
and assessment measures. The Director of IPEAR also provides leadership and assistance in the development of
the College's strategic plan/annual strategic plan updates, annual assessment plans, reviews of annual
assessment/performance indicators, recommendations of budget priorities based on assessment/performance
results, preparation for reaffirmation reviews, and the evaluation of campus planning and assessment processes.
The Director of IPEAR assists campus leadership in the identification of issues, analysis of trends, and the
understanding of outcomes (i.e., turning data into information for the college community), as well as
contributing to the strategic planning, evaluation, and development of institutional policies. Inherent in these
responsibilities is the expectation of working collaboratively with key campus administrators to ensure access to
accurate data for the timely submission of all required federal and state reports, including, but not limited to
IPEDS, other external and accreditation agencies. The Director serves as chair of the college's primary
assessment committee and the accreditation liaison of the College.
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Academic Services
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides vision, leadership, coordination, accountability, and advocacy of using data to inform decision- making and institutional assessment efforts including, but not limited to, outcomes assessment measures and other college data analysis.
Assists in the development of institutional strategic plan, its implementation, and in the assessment of the achievement of institutional goals. Develops and coordinates college-wide systems of academic and service area program reviews, provides orientation and support to departments in designing program reviews, and delivers monitoring reports to administrators to make recommendations for institutional improvements.
Assists in the development and assessment of departmental goals and implements appropriate changes in departmental functioning for the continuous improvement of the department. Coordinates institutional research efforts as an aspect of learning outcomes assessment. Serves as an administrative staff resource for college wide assessment efforts in curriculum development and student learning outcomes. Assists in the preparation of college reports for federal, state, and accrediting agencies. Works with appropriate college personnel in administering data collection efforts, compiling research results, and analyzing various faculty, alumni and/or student surveys. Coordinates data collection for and completion of standard and ad hoc state and federal reports including the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual assessment report to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
Leads and supports the college's organizational effectiveness and institutional accreditation activities. Provides leadership in the development of appropriate data systems to support institutional planning and policy-making procedures. Coordinates the preparation of reports and executive summaries that articulate, synthesize, and summarize the outcomes of planning processes, assessment results, share and apply research findings, and recommendations.
Initiates, coordinates, and maintains accountability for the assessment of program level student learning outcomes by: Coordinating faculty and staff development activities related to the assessment of program learning outcomes. Planning and conducting workshops and other faculty development programs to assist in conducting effective and meaningful assessment activities. Supporting departmental chairs and faculty in the development and of program learning outcomes assessment activities and using assessment results for continuous improvement. Assisting faculty and staff in the development and improvement of program learning outcomes and appropriate assessment activities. Oversees institutional data by coordinating the design, development, implementation, and framework for data integrity issues and coordinating with the data users' solutions to fix data inaccuracies. Conducts ongoing program assessments, to understand programs' strengths and weaknesses and to establish a model of evidence-based program improvement. Collaborate with other educational institutions, as well as local, state, and national organizations, on issues related to the assessment of student learning outcomes. Informs the campus community about important developments in assessment on campus and throughout higher education through a variety of channels, including the College's web site; promote internal and external communication of assessment results.
Develops, prepares, analyzes, and present research and data reports for college decision making in the areas of retention and enrollment. Coordinates the preparation of reports and executive summaries that articulate, synthesize, and summarize the outcomes of planning processes, disseminate research findings, and recommendations. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: 1. A Master's Degree from an accredited institution required
2. Doctoral Degree from accredited institution is preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 3. Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills
4. Strong interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work as a team member and supervise others
6. Demonstrated history of research skills and use of data collection software
7. Five years or more of progressively responsible experience in the areas of institutional planning,
effectiveness, accreditation, and research.
