Director, Integrated Strategic Communications - US Pharmaceuticals
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Integrated Strategic Communications – US Pharmaceuticals are to:
The Director, Integrated Strategic Communications – US Pharmaceuticals leads the development of integrated strategic communications to advance both Bayer and Pharmaceutical's overall brand and reputation and business outcomes. Works on a variety of communications initiatives across US Pharmaceuticals with an initial focus on women's healthcare to deliver on US business outcomes. Works at senior levels across product franchises, leading strategic communication programs and initiatives focused on delivering 90-day and long-term outcomes.
Integrated Communications
Serves as champion/team member on Business Enablement teams to deliver on key communications initiatives that support business outcomes across Bayer US. Initiatives may be in areas such as Brand Execution, Media Relations and Executive Visibility and Employee Engagement or on more time-limited campaigns;
Develops and executes an integrated communications strategy aligned with key timelines and budget and producing according to measurable outcomes and successes;
Creates an integrated strategy that leverages a compelling narrative, executive visibility and thought leadership to generate positive content in paid, earned, shared and owned channels;
Guides development of a strategic message platform that resonates with target audiences and advances the pharma narrative/reputation;
Interfaces with country leaders and global communications colleagues to pull through relevant global strategies and plans;
Serves as editor-in-chief of content/media planning for pharmaceutical communications.
Product Communication
Develops and executes creative, strategic communications strategy in close partnership with brand and marketing teams and understand the competitive landscape to ensure strategic positioning for Bayer's launch and portfolio brands and to deliver on USPH's outcomes;
Provide strategic counsel and partnership to brand leaders to support positioning the business favorably across marketed and investigational products, initially in women's healthcare;
Collaborate seamlessly with US and global communications colleagues to ensure integrated and successful efforts focusing heavily on milestone communications, scientific data, disease awareness, medical meetings, issues management and more;
Serve as strategic partner to cross-functional business teams, including marketing, market access, HEOR, R&D and medical, working closely on where communications can drive the greatest impact in support of the overall business strategy;
Partner with Commercial, Medical, Legal and Regulatory colleagues to create effective communications programs aligned with business priorities.;
Assist in the creation of key communications materials (i.e. press releases, stand by statements, Q&A, key messages, narratives);
Support in the development of plans around U.S. congresses and conferences and where communications and play a role.
Operational
Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with healthcare and industry journalists;
Establish a measurement program to set/track goals and adjust programming based on results;
Extract the best work from external agencies and manage plans to budget.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations or similar field;
Expertise in the development and implementation of external communications programs, including strategic planning, executive visibility, thought leadership and issues management;
Media relations experience, including solid understanding of the changing global media environment and the role of digital media in reaching key audiences;
Excellent oral presentation and influence skills;
Strong writer who can take complex information and produce clear, compelling, and motivating communications quickly;
A record of success and experience in advising senior and executive level teams;
Strong commercial focus and business acumen, including how policy, advocacy and access work and proven ability to apply understanding of market dynamics into strategy;
Ability to work collaboratively within a matrixed structure to achieve business results ;
Proficiency with digital communications and social media tools;
Comfortable with medical and science-based content;
Thinks strategically and executes at a high levelto support our fast-moving and nimble organization and people-focused culture;
A pleasure to work with, highly collaborative, inventive and a self-starter;
Results focused and regularly considers measurement to drive comms effectiveness;
Manages ambiguity well, viewing it as an opportunity vs a challenge;

Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 15 years of related professional experience in pharma or a related industry preferred with a focus on external communications and reputation management.
