Position: The Director Medical Affairs Congress Strategy & Execution will work closely with all Medical Affairs functions, Marketing, Market Access, Sales, Commercial operations, Science, PTLs, PMOs, Clinical Development, and all other cross-functional stakeholders to provide strategy and project management for medical activities at major regional, national, and international congresses. This role will also be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of industry-sponsored scientific symposia funded by Annexon.
Responsibilities include: Plan, lead & execute the Medical Affairs (MA) Congress Strategy focused on the development and implementation of the MA congress strategy, plan activities within the Neuromuscular or Ophthalmology TA in alignment with cross-functional teams.Provide strategic direction on the development and execution of industry-sponsored symposia, scientific receptions, medical roundtables, congress-based advisory boards, overall Annexon congress presence, and all other MA-led events with congress attendee participation at major Neuromuscular, Ophthalmology or pipeline-related congresses.Facilitate the development of Annexon-sponsored (internal) and Sponsored (agency partnership) medical education (SME) and content in alignment with MA and organization strategy.Strategize and develop congress capabilities to ensure alignment with scientific narrative and overall medical affairs strategy with cross-functional teams.Lead coordination, planning, and execution of all congress-related tactics with all MA sub-functions to ensure a comprehensive and impactful presence at major congresses.Plan, lead and execute Sponsored Medical Initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams for the development of product/disease-related videos and slides for the HCP on third-party medical education platforms.Lead pre-congress planning sessions and post-congress information sharing meetings for MA function.Responsible for informing internal stakeholders across the organization on MA activities at all major congresses including at PMRs and EC meetings.Explore on an ongoing basis, novel scientific congresses relevant to immunology, neuroimmunology, ophthalmology, and other areas of high interest for Annexon.Liaise with MA functions to support the review and management of all requests for sponsorships of major medical meetings and conferences, and programs approved and reviewed within MA.Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop an annual budget to support MA congress sponsorships, symposia, meetings, and other activities.Education, Experience, and Skills: Required: PharmD, PhD, or MD in related Life Sciences discipline. Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.6+ years biopharmaceutical industry or agency experience leading the development and execution of industry-sponsored symposia and scientific presentations.Scientific content development experience in neurology, ophthalmology, immunology, or rare disease across a variety of platforms, channels, and venues (e.g., symposia, videos, webinars, website content, infographics, posters, oral presentations).Successful record of creating and managing complex project plans, timelines, budgets, and critical paths.Extensive experience in leading the planning and execution of congress planning, scientific symposia, publications, and digital scientific content in the biopharma industry.Experience in developing, communicating, and implementing a comprehensive MA congress strategy and plan.Ability to understand, critically analyze, and summarize complex scientific and medical data into impactful deliverables across live and digital channels.Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented cross-functional structure.Prior experience as a project owner in effectively navigating MLR review within a biopharma organization.Able to effectively network and partner with internal and external stakeholders including KOLs/HCPs and facilitate/promote cross-functional collaboration.Detailed understanding of industry regulations and practices relating to Medical Affairs.Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.Preferred: Experience in MA and/or clinical R&D preferred.Therapeutic area experience in neurology/neuromuscular, ophthalmology/retina, and immunology preferred.Salary Range: $238,000 - $252,000
Location: Annexon Biosciences is located in Brisbane, California and preference is given to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area. This position may be on-site or remote (within the US).
