Director of Advancement is a director level position, reporting to the Executive Director/Head of School. The incumbent will guide and direct the strategy and execution of annual and long-range fundraising plans using industry best practices to grow and sustain the current budget of $2.8 million. The Director of Advancement will serve on the Head of School leadership team and will supervise the Development Manager. Essential Duties Plan and lead all unrestricted and annual giving direct donor fundraising campaigns and eventsBuild and manage annual advancement department budget Manage development operations, ensuring that donor contributions are accurately recorded and reportedUtilize best practices for donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship to sustain and grow Rise's community of supporters.Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual data to achieve advancement goals.Achieve donor retention rates that meet or exceed non-profit sector benchmarks Build mid-level donor segment and feed the major gift pipelineCollaborate with the Rise Richmond's marketing team to utilize a variety of direct response fundraising methods, including but not limited to direct mail, email, telephone, events, radio, internet and digital channelsLead the advancement committee of the Board, managing up to ensure board members effectively articulate the mission and support fundraising goals.Serve as strategic thought partner with the Executive Director to envision and fund future projects, including a capital campaignWith the executive director, elevate and promise Rise through external meetings, media appearances, and community engagement.Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of others and perform related human resources functionsApproach  Passionate and mission driven: possessing a deep understanding of K-12 education and youth development programs.Creative and curious: developing new ways to accomplish work while seeking to understand the people and context involvedCultural competency: demonstrating strong interpersonal skills when communicating with and about diverse communities while building relationships and connectionsInitiative and good judgment: prioritizing projects using reliable information; anticipating, responding to, and solving problemsQualifications: 5-10 years experience in fund development and any combination of stated education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or training equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Required Qualifications  Faith in Jesus Christ, affirming the Apostles' Creed and lived out in a faith community5+ years related and progressively productive experience related to direct response and mid-level fundraising including staff management and lead generation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and command of the English languageStrong project management skills with flexibility to manage multiple projects, adapt to change, and deliver on timeFamiliarity with Salesforce or other donor-related platforms Position Overview & Compensation Full-time, Exempt Anticipated hiring range: $75,000 to $90,000, negotiable and commensurate with skills and experienceBenefits include: competitive health insurance plans with dependent care, parental leave, Paid-Time-Off, life insurance and more.Hybrid work environment/Primary work location is Rise Academy, 2010 Carlisle Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231Special Conditions  VA State Police Criminal Records Check, including fingerprintingVA Department of Social Services Child Registry Search (Abuse/Neglect of children)Mask-wearing when requiredFlexibility to work remotely occasionally is possible
