Job Title: Director of Behavioral Health Department: Behavioral Health Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer Status: Non-Bargaining, Exempt, Full Time Job Summary: Oversees the administrative and clinical operations of the Behavioral Health clinic, including management and coordination, program development, and quality client services.
Duties and Responsibilities: Completes training and certification as Behavioral Health Clinical Content Builder to support the development and needs of BH OCHIN medical record system.Diagnoses and applies appropriate treatments for behavioral and mental health disorders.Collaborates with the client and/or family members to develop plans to positively manage and respond to barriers challenging one's cognitive, behavioral and emotional overall well-being; assists clients with developing healthy choices and outcomes through various evidence-based practices, psychoeducation and psychoanalysis.Responsible for all behavioral health related activities from initial referral, scheduling, caseload coordination, and managing clinical staffing.Provides supervision and consultation to clinical staff, ensuring practices and policies follow ethical and professional standards. This includes conducting staff meetings, peer reviews, and ensuring timely and efficient client documentation.Developing and managing various BH programs, quality care delivery, and marketing the program to attract new clients.Ensuring each client receives individualized care, which may include referrals to other communities or medical agencies.Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the Behavioral Health department, to include the review and selection process of new hires, the onboarding of staff, and credentialing process.Collecting and maintaining statistical data and provides data for quality metrics and department.Directs the preparation of organizational and departmental financial and statistical reports.Assist in the development of annual operational, statistical, and capital budgets.Manages all activation and commissioning activities required by the Behavioral Health service to commence operations, to include expanding the scope of services as needed by the organization.Assists with constructive and timely performance evaluations, including the initial and annual employee performance and FPPE/OPPE evaluations.Gathers and analyzes information on client through a variety of methods that may include observation, interviews, self-report inventories, group discussions, and/or formal assessments.Participates, facilitates, and documents the treatment plan for clients and/or family with behavioral mental health disorders.Assists clients in developing new or strengthened communication skills and methods.Refers client to specialists for further treatment as appropriate.Develops and maintains accurate records regarding progress, evaluations, and any further treatment recommendations.Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.Ensures all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, safety program requirements, corporate compliance program, standards of conduct, all applicable statutes, rules, and regulations are upheld.Maintains skills and knowledge through participation in educational programs, reading literature, attending workshops, and maintains affiliation with profession's organization if applicable.Education and Experience: Master's degree in Psychology required, PhD preferred.Current state license in counseling/therapy.One (1) year behavioral health director experience preferred, or similar experience.Two (2) years behavioral health experience.CERNER, EPIC and Microsoft experience preferred.Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing and walking.Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting.Use hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools, or controls.Repeat the same movements.High concentration and alertness level required, with frequent attention to detail motivated self-starter; results driven with strong desire to succeed.Focus on one source of sound and ignore others.Communicate directly, clearly, and effectively with supervisor, other employees, and department heads.Professional phone etiquette with regards to client confidentiality and using professional language and courtesy.Coordinate work with employees and department heads in a professional manner.Be approachable; relate well to others; be receptive to feedback and articulate clearly.Actively listens and get clarification to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.Be able to work with others in a team environment.The above information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by an employee in this classification.
