TechUnited:NJ is seeking a Director of Business Development to generate new sponsorships for TechUnited:NJ programs and events and renew and grow existing sponsorship relationships.
The ideal candidate has the ability to build their own pipeline of business, ranging from large corporations and well-known brands to service providers, universities, investors, and startups and is experienced in sponsorship and event sales.
The role is best suited for someone immersed in the tech community and reliant on technology as a business tool. This role requires relationship building and bespoke sponsorship sales - executive communication, ability to creatively engage brands, and history of quota attainment are critical for success.
Director of Business Development Responsibilities:Source & create campaigns for outbound lead generation for new businessAttend events to source new leads and develop existing relationshipsServe as the main point of contact for a wide range of sponsorship prospects both new and renewalAchieve $1M annual quota for sponsorship salesCreate compelling sales proposals & collaborate with marketing on sales materials & decksTrack your sales activity & metrics using Hubspot CRM and other toolsVery comfortable with new technology tools that aid sourcing and selling (IE ConvertKit, Followupthen, Clearbit, Canva, Apollo, etc…)Work seamlessly with TechUnited:NJ's CEO & VP to leverage resources to win high-value & strategic dealsSupport creative planning & content creation including on-site event support, speaker & startup pitch suggestions, content ideas, & dinner and meetup hostingQualifications:Experience working in the tech & startup industry for at least 5 yearsDemonstrated the ability to thrive in a startup environment, showing flexibility and resilience in the rapidly changing landscape of emerging technology5+ years of experience in business development with proven track record for quarterly and annual quota attainment and KPI achievementExperience sourcing, selling, and closing new business at the SMB & enterprise levelPolished and articulate with excellent communication skills in both business and social settingsExceptional client engagement skills, capable of winning business with C-Suite executives & a variety of stakeholdersComfortable working on a small teamThe ideal candidate will be well networked in the NJ/NYC tech communityScrappy/can-do attitude leveraging resources to get things done, even in a non-conventional approachExcellence in this role over time would provide opportunities that would include growing a more robust sales team, launching new programs, and/or entering new markets.
