The Opportunity: Director of BI & Analytics We're looking for a highly skilled and business-savvy Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics to help drive our mission forward. If you have a passion for consumer-facing start-ups and have at least 4 years of hands-on experience in analytics or data science, this is your chance to shape the future of social commerce at Flip.
In this role, you won't just lead the analytics function—you'll partner closely with cross-functional teams to drive decision-making, solve complex business challenges, and directly impact our strategic direction and decision making.
Location: Office based out of our Los Angeles HQ.
Responsibilities: Strategic Insights: Leverage data analytics to uncover actionable insights and support decision-making across departments. You'll help identify growth opportunities and guide strategy.Performance Tracking: Track key metrics and initiatives through automated dashboards and self-serve BI tools such as Looker and MixPanel. Partner closely with data engineering to ensure metric integrity and standardization. Proactively monitor performance and drive continuous improvements.Innovative Solutions: Develop advanced analytics models and solutions to enhance the user experience, from personalization to content engagement, helping Flip optimize its social shopping journey.Experimentation: Own the design, set-up, and measurement of all experiments through StatSig. Partner with engineering and data engineering to ensure experimentation velocity and rigor.Business Problem Solving: Partner with product, marketing, and leadership teams to solve real business problems using data, providing both technical solutions and business-driven strategies.Technical Leadership: Utilize your technical expertise to lead complex data projects, ensuring the integrity and quality of data analysis. Manage priorities and provide guidance to a small team of data scientists and BI engineers.Requirements: Experience: Proven experience in analytics or data science, particularly in consumer-facing products.Technical Expertise: Proficient in SQL, Python, R, and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau). Strong data manipulation, analysis, and visualization skills.Experimentation: Prior experience with experimentation and attribution modeling.Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to translate data insights into strategic business recommendations. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in driving business results.Innovative Mindset: A creative approach to solving complex problems with data. Always looking for ways to improve and stay ahead of industry trends.Strong Communication: Ability to effectively communicate complex data and analytics insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.People Management: Prior people management experience being a plus.Compensation & Benefits: Base salary and total compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
