Job SummaryUnder the direct oversight of the Associate AD of Compliance, the Director of Compliance assumes a pivotal leadership role within our NCAA Division I Athletics program. Tasked with overseeing a spectrum of administrative and technical functions, this position demands a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and meticulous attention to detail. The incumbent will spearhead the application and enforcement of policies and procedures, ensuring unwavering adherence to NCAA and Conference mandates. With a focus on evaluating departmental matters concerning compliance as it relates to financial aid and rules education. The Director of Compliance plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and success of our Athletic Department.Key ResponsibilitiesEducate Coaches and Students on NCAA, Conference, and University Systems - Explain NCAA, Conference, LBSU, and CSU rules to coaches, athletic department staff, institutional staff and students-athletes ensuring comprehensive understanding of their interactions with internal campus policies and procedures. Clarify the implications of these systems on NCAA regulations, emphasizing adherence and compliance through meticulous evaluation.Coordinate Athletic Scholarships and NCAA Compliance - Assist the Business Office staff in assessing eligibility for Academic Incentive funds in accordance with Federal Financial Aid regulation, while documenting and administering the allocation of these awards to students' accounts. Collaborate with coaches and financial aid office to manage the awarding of athletic scholarships, while monitoring team limits/counters according to NCAA rules.Manage Compliance Operations - Manage the approval and processing of unofficial visits and official visits through ARMS, ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations. Review and maintain recruiting records, including contact, evaluation, and telephone logs for all coaches on a monthly basis.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesAbility to independently initiate and execute tasks. Ability to strategically plan work and projects that align with department objectives. Ability to establish a strong community presence (among season ticket holders, donors, etc.) to educate, remind, and guide external stakeholder s within the compliance framework. Ability to guide others in policy and procedures in support of the athletics department and the university. Strong customer service skills over the telephone, in person, and through written communication. Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications.Organizational Savvy – Maneuvering comfortably through complex policy, process, and people-related organizational dynamics. Drives Results – Consistently achieve results, even under tough circumstances and thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."Education and ExperienceEquivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of related experience required.Preferred:• 2-3 years' experience working in an NCAA compliance office, conference, or the national office.• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred.• Knowledge of financial aid policy and procedures preferred.• Experience with ARMS software.• Experience with NCAA applications such as LSDBi & RSRO.Physical SummaryLight work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.DepartmentDepartment of AthleticsClassificationAdmin Analyst/Specialist Exempt IICompensationSalary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.CSU Classification Salary Range:The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,273 - $9,537 per month.BenefitsExcellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.Time Base1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted.
