POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development and Philanthropy is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of the MACT Health Board Inc.'s mission for grant and fundraising programs. Works with the Executive Director to determine the mission, purpose, and priorities of the organization for the short-and long-term needs with our Strategic Plan: successfully meets annual revenue goals; and integrates the vision, core values and culture of MACT Health Board Inc. The incumbent must work in a positive and respectful manner with fellow employees.
The position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian health organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops strategies and plans in coordination with the Executive Director to fund the MACT Health Board Inc. short and long-term programs and grants.Closely monitors success of grant and fundraising efforts to meet current approved budget, fundraising events meet revenue targets and strategic goals.Manages the grants program including work related to grant writing and reports, proposals to private and public foundations, grant makers and corporations.Oversees direct mail campaigns and coordinates seasonal donor acquisition. Reviews and makes recommendations for improvement.Maintains list of potential financial donors including corporations, foundations, and individuals. Works with Executive Director and Finance Director to improve data collection and reporting.Keeps current on plan development, grant writing and fundraising for best practices and trends.Assists in budget preparation and monitors overall departmental revenue and expense. Performing a variety of tasks related to budgeting techniques and systems.Accountable for understanding of community needs, changes in policies, or local/national matters that impact the department functions and participates in community development meetings to expand the reach of the Representatives on the Board of Directors programs and giving efforts.Attend meetings, conferences, trainings and activities as required.Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Board of Directors.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting or its equivalent in combined formal education and career experience.Minimum of three (3) years of experience in government/nonprofit sector and/or philanthropic programs highly preferred.Experience working with government funded programs, preferred.Ability to work well under pressure, work with multiple constituencies and communicate effectively.Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.Must adhere to the MACT Health Board, Inc. Corporate Code of Conduct.MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Must pass Occupational Health Screening.Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).Valid CA Driver's license and automobile insurance.REQUIRED ABILITIES: Supports an ethical standard, which complies with a code of conduct free of conflicts of interest.Supports the Mission and Values of MACT Health Board, Inc.Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs.Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.Confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee and operations data.Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.AMERICAN INDIAN PREFERENCE Preference in filing of a vacancy will be given to qualified American Indian applicants in accordance with the Preference Act (Title 25, U.S. Code, and Sections 472 & 473) and Public Law 93-638, provided the applicant has submitted appropriate verification of Indian preference for employment.
