With more than 350 affiliated physicians, 900 employees, and 170 volunteers, this hospital offers the community a comprehensive range of services similar to hospitals in large metropolitan areas.
The hospital offers major specialty services, including open heart surgery and neuroscience services.
Also a designated STEMI Receiving Center and Stroke Ready Hospital by the Emergency Medical Services Agency.
The Joint Commission has also designated the hospital as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
Job Opportunity: The Director of Emergency assesses, plans, implements and evaluates delivery of patient care with 24 hour responsibility for total management of the Emergency Department.
Provides administrative direction for development and evaluation of all nursing personnel, and maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services.
Contributes to nursing and the hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, educational and research efforts.
Accountable to assure that HCAPS, patient, employee, and physicians satisfaction scores are all in acceptable ranges.
Accountable for building and directing teams to improve core measures and other Joint Commission initiatives.
Has ongoing dialogue with nurses both one on one and in monthly staff and clinical unit.
Is proactive in identifying needs of staff and resolves issues to improve patient care and supports nursing leadership direction.
Is a positive reactor assuring new initiatives and practices are followed consistently without bias.
Key Responsibilities: Budget Management: Assist with budget preparation, control costs, monitor productivity, and oversee capital equipment procurement.
Organizational Oversight: Ensure service excellence, develop policies, and maintain a union-free environment.
Attend leadership meetings and events.
Human Resources: Manage recruitment, staffing, performance evaluations, and staff development.
Address conflict and retention issues.
Leadership: Demonstrate flexibility, take initiative, maintain positive medical staff relationships, and actively engage in employee recognition and communication.
Quality Improvement: Drive process improvements, meet quality targets, and ensure regulatory compliance.
General Duties: Participate in emergency drills, support educational activities, manage departmental policies, and address safety hazards.
Position-Specific Responsibilities: Oversee patient care processes, implement standards, and ensure effective documentation and performance improvement.
Qualifications: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
5-7 years of clinical experience in Emergency; 3+ years in acute care nursing leadership.
Certifications/Licenses: Current RN license in California, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
