We are looking for a passionate and experienced Director of Engineering to lead and inspire our talented engineering team. You will be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap, overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality software products, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the engineering organization. You'll work alongside builders who have helped to shape the success of companies such as Google, Okta, AWS and more. This is a key leadership role within the Engineering organization.
You will: Serve as the engineering leader for engineering deliverablesCreate detailed engineering execution plans, cadence and processes for engineering team members to use and abide byPropose and oversee resources, dependencies and timelines for engineering projectsExecute on engineering processes and plan, iterate on processes based on teams' feedback, ensure customer deliverables are on timeDrive the team to strive for the best quality for completed projectsDrive the Engineering team to have end-to-end ownership of their deliverables, including development, testing, deployment and supportCultivate a high-pace and resilient engineering culture for continuous innovationsCross-team collaborationWork with product managers to note down the product requirements and customers' use cases, and work as a team for prioritization and adjustments of the deliverables if neededClear engineering communications on key engineering fronts - priority, engineering achievements, alignment with leadership teamCommunicate and collaborate with other managers and stakeholdersHiring and Retaining TalentHave a process to hire, onboard, grow and retain engineering talentAnswer questions and address issues brought forth by the engineering team membersMentor and challenge team members for better productivityBuild plans for engineering resources to deliver product roadmap itemsYou have: Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Experience:Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 4+ years in a leadership role. Should have experience building enterprise SaaS products.Startup experiences that scale a team from under 20 to 40+Experience building, delivering and managing support for SaaS products that stream large amounts of dataExperience building and delivering services in AWS and/or on KubernetesExperience leading and managing a fully distributed teamSolid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and modern software delivery processKnowledge of Agile development, including Scrum management, stories, defect tracking & management, product backlog, JIRA and MVPExcellent interpersonal and technical communication skillsTrack record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projectsRelentlessly high standards (never satisfied with the status quo)Able to dive deep, never out of touch with the details of the business and technologyLead and manage multiple software engineering teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and inclusive work environment.Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on trackExperience working with product, design, business and leadership in setting the long term strategic direction for team and productAbility to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced environmentHands-on, "can do" attitude and a bias for actionLow ego and high intellectual curiosityOther / Nice-to-Have Skills:Spearhead various research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and improved processesPrepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externallyOur Culture Ownership MindsetAct with IntegrityGuardians of our CustomersOpinionated HumilityBuild Trust, Earn TrustWhat we offer Competitive salary and equity packagesPre-tax health care, dependent care, and commuter benefits (FSA)Flexible medical, dental, and vision benefitsParental leaveFlexible Time OffMonthly Connectivity StipendAt Veza, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range can be discussed with your recruiter for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package.
