Position Summary Reporting to the Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Chief People Officer (CPO) at UCLA Extension (UNEX), the inaugural Director of Equity, People, and Culture directs and oversees culture change, professional development programs, and program resourcing for UNEX. As a functional technical leader and subject matter expert on organizational development, culture, and matters relating to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging (DEIB), they will provide guidance and consultation to all levels of the organization on matters relevant as well as develop and lead strategic DEIB engagement initiatives at UNEX. In addition, they will develop, plan, implement, and facilitate, cohesive learning approaches and manage DEIB professional development programs. They will focus on equitable organizational development and design, execute, and champion DEIB initiatives, working in collaboration with all areas of the Office of People, Culture and Equity (HR/People Operations and Student Conduct) to ensure all policies and procedures are executed from a DEIB lens and to ultimately create initiatives that further an inclusive, welcoming work culture that encourages psychological safety and student & staff wellbeing. The Director will be a strategic partner with the Associate Dean and be UNEX's expert and leader on issues related to inclusive culture, climate, leadership, and equitable business practices in UNEX. They will lead, design, develop, and implement initiatives, and act as an internal organizational consultant in recommending how to best utilize resources that further the goals of UNEX strategic priority of equity & access. They will partner with UNEX stakeholders on professional DEIB development, training, and coaching programs. They will also focus on evaluating, developing, and fostering equitable organizational development practices to ensure and maintain an equitable organizational culture with equitable business practices at UNEX. Lastly, they will play a critical role in leading the DEIB curriculum development for the UNEX Bridge Program - a mechanism for national reach and for UNEX instructors and staff to create cutting edge, innovative, equitable DEIB certificates - positioning UNEX as a thought and action leader in DEIB across sectors served. Other core functions include, but are not limited to: directing DEIB culture change and development programs, overseeing DEIB learning & development programs for staff and academic personnel, conducting data analysis and providing data-informed recommendations and solutions as it advances DEIB goals of UNEX, providing professional expertise and leadership on organizational learning to executive leadership and management, participating as a partner/leader and support to UCLA Campus and UC Systemwide initiatives surrounding DEIB, and partnering with and providing consultation to fellow Office of Equity, People, & Culture leadership - centering equity, people, culture, and access as it relates to students, staff, and academic personnel. Qualifications 5 - 8 years Minimum of career progression and professional experience in higher education administration, preferably in the areas of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as well as student affairs and/or human resources. (Required) Highly strategic and creative thought leader/partner with the ability to translate abstract ideas into tactical concepts that can be easily implemented. Sound analytical skills with the ability to make critical decisions in a timely manner. (Required) Advanced experience collecting, reporting, and understanding historical and broad organizational data with the ability to translate that into meaningful insights about defined key populations. Making data-driven recommendations that improve equitable development and learning outcomes. (Required) Exceptional experience working with stakeholders from different groups and levels across the organization engaging with them to gain agreement or buy-in on solutions, programs, policies, and projects; Provide written analyses and oral presentations executive and senior leadership. (Required) Strong and culturally aware communication style through different mediums and channels, leading of teams and collaboration across multiple groups managing competing priorities, and multiple stakeholders; Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels in the diverse and multicultural (Required) Expert knowledge of learning and development policies, best practices, and current trends. Highly experienced in implementing learning and development programs and policies across an organization. (Required) Exceptional leadership and coaching skills, and excellent influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus across lines of difference with peers in the context of driving and fostering change. (Required) Advanced skill and experience in the design, implementation, and assessment of DEIBA initiatives and programming; Demonstrates advanced knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion principles and practices and a broad knowledge of business operations of UNEX and greater UCLA Campus. (Required) Highly experienced with multi-modal approaches to learning. (Required) Posses advanced knowledge and experience needed to direct and manage diversity, equity and inclusion programs. (Required) Advanced skills in effectively managing diversity, equity and inclusion programs and professional support staff. (Required) Demonstrate advanced level of political and organizational acumen. (Required) Possess in-depth knowledge of all relevant university policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understanding of how work may impact other areas. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. (Required) And Master's Degree Master's degree and/or advanced degree and/or equivalent experience and educational training.
