The Opportunity Adobe seeks a Director of External Reporting and Technical Accounting, ESG Controller to join our finance leadership team. This highly visible, critical role will report to the Senior Director, Global Accounting & Reporting and lead our External Reporting & Equity Accounting, Technical Accounting, and ESG Regulatory Reporting teams. This role will also lead the full Mergers & Acquisitions ("M&A") cycle for accounting, from advising on deal structure and performing due diligence to overseeing the accounting valuation process and advising the record-to-report finance integration workstream. Key to success will be your ability to partner and influence cross functionally with our operational accounting, tax, Treasury, FP&A, legal, Investor Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Employee Experience teams.
What you'll do: Lead the external reporting team on drafting and filing all financial documents and SEC filings.Coordinate with Investor Relations, Corporate Legal and senior leaders to review our earnings documents, including drafting the most complex or unique matters in a simple, easy, and understandable way.Serve as trusted technical accounting advisor for complex transactions under existing or future rules, including overseeing policy updates for FASB pronouncements and SEC rules.Assess the impact of proposed accounting pronouncements and standards to ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting requirements and provide educational trainings to impacted stakeholders.Own the global consolidated audit process to resolve issues and avoid delays.Advise corporate development and legal teams on the accounting treatment for potential deals and strategic investments (i.e., asset acquisitions, business combinations, and VIE/VOE considerations).Cross-functionally manage the end-to-end financial due diligence for M&A transactions.Monitor the evolving global regulatory ESG reporting landscape and evaluate and determine the applicability of new reporting regulations globally.Build our capabilities in terms of people, processes, internal controls and systems to meet all mandatory ESG reporting requirements globally.Coordinate limited and reasonable assurance over ESG disclosures with external accounting firms where required.Support and coordinate with teams managing our voluntary ESG reporting to ensure we're working in a collaborative manner.Identify annual strategic priorities for the organization which align with Corporate priorities and have the biggest impact to Adobe.Develop, coach, and mentor the team to reinforce a strong team culture and to assist team members in reaching their individual development and professional goals.What you need to succeed: BA/BS in Finance/Accounting with active CPA license.12+ years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting firm experience and a global Fortune 500 company, preferably with high tech industry and controllership experience.Deep understanding and application of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.Technical accounting expertise in business combinations, treasury-related activities, share-based compensation and sophisticated structures.Passion for continuous improvement of systems and processes.Proven experience leading a team of 7+ employees.Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all functions and levels of the organization.Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Experience working with ESG reporting standards is a plus.SAP experience a plus.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $134,900 -- $263,900 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
