Job Overview:

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality control & SQF program in two facilities, designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through designee. Oversight, maintenance, and compliance to the facility HACCP, SSOP's, GMP's, SQF, ABF Program of Slaughter and Manufacturing facility. Candidate must be HACCP & GFSI certified.

Job Duties:

Develop, analyze, and reassess the HACCP Plans, SSOPs, SOPs, Prerequisites, and supporting documents annually and when necessary to produce Safe Quality Food.
Implement and conduct HACCP, SSOP, SOP, Prerequisite, and supporting document deviation corrective actions and preventive measures. QC/HACCP Manager in documentation on all corrective actions prior to submitting to the USDA.
Submit label approval documents to USDA LSAS.
Must be able to work with USDA and management at a professional level.
Train employees on GMPs, SSOPs, Food Safety, Quality, & Safety.
Review and sign all necessary documents daily if Quality Control Manager is not available.
Act as a backup to both TPC and VFG QC Managers during vacations or days off.
Ensure all production areas are covered in the absence of the QC Manager.
Submit all yearly regulatory and SQF required forms and applications as needed for both facilities.
Ensure review of disciplinary actions with QC Manager & QC Supervisor.
Ensure all monthly and quarterly audits as required by SQF are completed.
Communicate quality food safety issues between facilities as they arise.
Provide assistance to the Plant Manager with any quality projects as needed.
Oversee total management of VBF SQF Program.
Staff the QC department at both facilities as necessary to control food safety in the plant VBF/TPC.
Oversee high-risk processing with the ability to manage the facilities listeria control program and take necessary corrective actions. Perform necessary in-plant validation studies needed to maintain regulatory requirements.
Review and sign off all new product specifications and communicate to QC staff.
This job position requires good attendance.
Other duties as assigned or requested by the president.
Staff janitorial department at both facilities VBF/TPC.
Complete all customer quality & food safety documents packets as needed.
Oversee compliance to facilities audits and special claims program.
Oversee all quality management food safety programs for TPC & VBF.

To qualify for this job, you must have:

High School Diploma or GED.
5-10 years experience in a high-volume food manufacturing environment or related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience and a strong commitment to meeting internal customer requirements and continuous improvement objectives.
HACCP / GFSI Certification.

We'd also love it if you have:

Bachelor's Degree preferred in Food Science, Nutrition, and Food.
Experience in swine slaughter is a plus.
Experience in a high-volume food manufacturing environment or related field preferred.

Physical requirements and work environment:

Occasionally, may be required to work in production environments that are hot, cold, wet, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually below 85 DB for a time-weighted average of 8 hours.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Able to speak and hear for safety and productivity.
Use scanners, tablets, radios, phones, and other warehouse machinery.
Employees are regularly required to stand for long periods of time, walking, and lifting; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms.
