Job Description SUMMARY
The Director is a nursing professional who coordinates program development, develops, assesses and pursues opportunities consistent with the business plan of department(s) and the hospital. May oversee and direct multiple cost centers/departments to accomplish hospital and overall integrated network objectives. Functions in an advisory capacity to develop and evaluate proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care; directs the implementation and ensures compliance with Standards of Care that promote optimum health care delivery. Closely monitors profit and loss, revenue generation and expenditure control and adjusts staffing and other resources to optimize operations and streamline costs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field, master's degree preferred
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Required Licenses/Certifications
Valid Texas RN License (current state registration)
BLS
Any other certifications staff nurses in areas managed are required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
At least 5 years' work experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity
Demonstrated professional judgment, ability to communicate, mediate and problem-solve with colleagues, patients, visitors and medical staff alike, effective written and verbal communication skills a must.
Responsibilities
Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice. Has highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability, and ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Qualifications
Education:
Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a health care related field or a BSN.
Preferred: MSN or master's in a health care related field.
Experience:
Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
Certifications:
Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. AHA BLS.
