We are hiring for the following: Position: Director of Nursing-DON Schedule: Days Location: Piedmont Regional Jail Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, doctors, and healthcare administrators Ensure the orderly administration of inmate care on a daily basis is consistent with physician orders and the correctional facility policies and procedures Create standard-of-care guidelines by way of developing, revising, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal policies and regulations, adhering to MEDIKOs policies and procedures Oversee and implement changes to nursing best practices, such as shift changes and infection prevention procedures Recruit, onboard, and train new nursing staff Develop short and long-terms goals for the department, such as staffing goals, procedural goals, and standard-of-care goals Participate in cost containment goals, standards, and activities; participate in operating budget as it relates to nursing and other areas, as assigned Review and approve timesheets, overtime, and submit payroll within designated timelines Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program; assist Medical Director in establishing CQI calendar; participate in the monthly CQI committee (including submitting appropriate recommendations to improve health care services) Oversee services rendered by agency or 1099/contractors Schedule and document monthly staff meetings Develop, coordinate, assign duties and communicate nursing staff schedules; ensure required site coverage at all times; provide on-call coverage as needed; assist team members with work and work overtime as needed Supervise and evaluate nurse performance; counsel and discipline employee based on guidance from MEDIKOs handbook; complete and submit timely, annual performance reviews/evaluations to HR/Finance for further approval on all nursing and assigned staff Knowledge and understanding of all facets of professional nursing, patient care, infection control, safety, quality assurance policies and procedures, and institutional practices; monitor and reinforce compliance in each of these areas Provide guidance to nurse staff regarding medical disciplines Communicate with inmate patients families, physicians, and medical staff Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing required BSN with Masters Degree in Nursing preferred Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing Current unencumbered RN licensure in applicable state Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross guideline approved) Background in an emergency room, correctional health care or medical surgical setting preferred Two (2) years supervisory experience, preferably in an acute care setting or within a correctional environment Strong knowledge of all areas of general health care services within the correctional health care environment Benefits Benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for you and your family Employer-paid Life insurance policy/AD&D, long-term disability and short-term disability Tuition Reimbursement Assistance Plan CEUs paid for by MEDIKO Generous paid time off including 10 Holidays Participation in the MEDIKO retirement plan Employee Assistance Program Please visit our website at www.MEDIKO.com to learn more about opportunities with us EOE STATEMENT: We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
