Starbird Chicken is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to join the team! The Director of Operations (DO) serves as a key leader, bridging corporate strategic initiatives and daily operational excellence across all Starbird locations.
This role is responsible for managing multi-unit operations, ensuring the implementation of operational strategies, and driving business impact through effective leadership and strategic oversight.
The DO leads the hiring, training, and development of management teams while optimizing labor and cost controls to support the company's growth and evolution.
Acting as an extension of the corporate team, the DO observes, documents, and provides feedback on operational efficiencies and strategic initiatives to foster continuous improvement and scalability.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Implement corporate strategic initiatives across Starbird locations, ensuring alignment with company goals.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of operational strategies, providing feedback to corporate teams to refine and optimize initiatives.Serve as a key participant in weekly corporate operational meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for operational improvements and business growth.Actively contribute to special corporate initiatives and projects as assigned.Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations at Starbird locations, ensuring adherence to company standards and operational excellence.Conduct regular site visits to observe, document, and provide feedback on performance, processes, and guest experience.Drive optimization of labor management and cost controls, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve financial and operational targets.Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiencies across properties.Leadership and Staffing: Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and training of onsite Managers and other key leadership roles at the property level.Provide ongoing coaching and development to property management teams to foster leadership growth and operational expertise.Ensure managers are equipped to lead daily service and operations while maintaining alignment with the company's core values and standards.Conduct regular performance evaluations, setting clear expectations and holding managers accountable for results.Compliance & Safety: Oversee compliance with health and safety protocols, conducting audits and providing corrective action plans as needed.Partner with support teams to address and mitigate risks related to compliance, safety, and operational performance.Guest Experience & Quality Assurance Ensure the delivery of exceptional guest experiences by upholding company standards for service, product quality, and cleanliness.Collaborate with teams to address guest feedback, implement service recovery strategies, and exceed guest expectations.Monitor brand consistency across all locations, providing guidance to maintain high levels of quality and guest satisfaction.Qualifications: Minimum 5-6 years of hands-on experience in food production in fast-paced restaurant environments, full dining services, or similar settings as a Area or Regional Manager or field Operations manager supporting multiple units.Ability to step in and out of daily operations that allows for focus on both service standards and business strategy.Proven track record in training and mentoring restaurant staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment.Thorough understanding of food & beverage safety and sanitation regulations.Comfort and proficiency in utilizing restaurant operational software such as Restaurant 365, Point of Sale administrative dashboards, and professional suites of service such as Microsoft or Google.Communication Requirements: Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures.
This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.Proficiency in effectively presenting information and responding to questions from staff and vendors.Must be comfortable with using internal communications systems such as Microsoft Teams, G Suite, Zoom, Slack, etc.Physical Requirements: Able to stand, bend, stoop, reach, lift, grasp, and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 5 hours in length.
Must have sufficient mobility to move and operate in confined work area.Able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs; place items on high and low shelves in office, store rooms, service areas, walk-in coolers and freezers.Must work inside and outside.
