Job Purpose Director of Operations will oversee the manufacturing teams of the company's San Jose manufacturing sites, ensuring effective and efficient use of facilities and staff. The industries we serve include space, defense, medical, and semiconductor test & capital equipment. Oversees management of Production Operations, Manufacturing & Process Engineering, Facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities Oversees the manufacture of products, ensuring production scheduling, performance, and quality standards are consistently met.Reviews production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met.Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations.Leads and champions continuous improvement activities throughout the organization.Assists executive leadership with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced process technology and capabilities.Identifies, shares and plans training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.Organizes departmental management structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations and provides leadership within a matrix organization to achieve cross functional goals and improvements.Works with chief financial officer to develop operating budget and supports short term forecasting in support of routine business reporting.Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications Progressive experience in SMT and custom electronics manufacturing environments.Experience in IPC class III and high-reliability manufacturing.Experience in high mix and low volume manufacturing.8+ years electronics manufacturing and contract manufacturing preferred.Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion, independent judgment, and professionalism.Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools.Strong customer service and client focus.Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products and conferencing software.Demonstrated leadership and people management skills including ability to effectively coach and mentor employees at all levels.Enthusiastic and motivational communicator with multi-cultural experience.Demonstrates effective customer interface skills.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and influence individuals, internally and externally, across all levels, functions, and geographies.Use of discretion with the ability to gain trust of business leaders and others to discuss and respond to sensitive and business critical issues.Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills.Effective analytical, planning, and organizational skills.Collaborate and influence cross functional peer leaders in order to obtain support for process improvements.Solid financial understanding, risk analysis ability, relationship building and project management.Ability to drive solutions to complex planning issues with limited supervision.Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities with complete documentation, including a follow up review with the team in an appropriate format.8+ years progressive manufacturing operations, leadership and strategy experience in low to medium volume manufacturing environments; demonstrated working knowledge of ISO standards, such as ISO 13485, AS9100, ISO 9001.Excellent team building, communication, verbal, written, and presentation skills.Possess a high level of professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action.
