Details of the offer

The Director of Payroll oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Additionally, the Director of Payroll directs the preparation and filing of required reports and/or payments to government agencies and individual employees. The successful incumbent serves as a point of contact in the resolution of payroll issues and identifies areas to improve the efficiency of the payroll function.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resource Management or related field is preferred.
Five (5) to seven (7) years of management or supervisory experience in Payroll.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in related fields.
Professional certification (CPP - Certified Payroll Professional) is preferred.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.

Examples of Duties:
Manages and performs semi-monthly disbursement of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes to all employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
Ensures the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions, and terminations is accurate and timely.
Oversees and participates in the on-boarding/new hire process.
Reviews and analyzes current payroll, benefits, and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
Audits W-4s, payroll balance sheets accounts, YTD earnings, etc.
Manages regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.).
Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department transfers.
Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Contributes to quarterly rolling budget process, provides payroll related analytics, prepares monthly and quarterly reports to support controller with reports presented to executive team.
Assists with various payroll related audit requests, GAAP audit and government agencies.

Leadership and influencing skills, strong ability to partner and work in a collaborative team environment.
Strong client service orientation, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent organizational skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with complex commissions and bonus payroll transactions.
Strong time management skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues.
Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to analyze and interpret data and take appropriate action.
Ability to identify risk and maintain policies to remain compliant.
Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with ability to utilize Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
