Director of Procurement, Contract Manufacturing and Packaging

Position overview:
The Director of Procurement for Contract Manufacturing and Packaging will be a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the development of supply chain operations. This individual will play a crucial role in negotiating contracts, developing new manufacturing solutions, and developing sustainable packaging initiatives in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Negotiation:
Lead negotiations with contract manufacturers, focusing on pricing structures, line capacity, quality standards delivery timelines and other key parameters.
Collaborate with contract manufacturers to establish long-term partnerships that align with the company's values and goals.
Stay abreast of market trends and industry benchmarks to drive competitive agreements.
Manufacturing Solutions:
Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to optimize efficiency and flexibility, both in the United States and overseas.
Identify and evaluate potential contract manufacturing partners, considering factors such as capacity, capabilities, and quality standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new manufacturing solutions into existing operations.
Sustainable Packaging:
Spearhead the development of sustainable packaging solutions, aligning with the company's commitment to environmental responsibility.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement innovative and eco-friendly packaging materials and processes.
Drive the execution of the company's strategic roadmap for packaging, meeting regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
Strategic Leadership:
Work closely with executive leadership to align the procurement of manufacturing and packaging strategies with overall business goals.
Provide leadership and guidance to a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data, and provide insights to drive informed decision-making.
Will report directly to the VP of Procurement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
Proven experience (7+ years) in procurement, with a focus on contract manufacturing and packaging, preferably in the natural food industry.
Strong negotiation skills and a track record of successfully managing complex vendor relationships.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and packaging technologies, with an emphasis on sustainability. Experience with CAPEX projects and long term contract implementation is a plus.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate overarching goals into actionable procurement plans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
