Position Overview: The Director of Procurement will be responsible for overseeing the procurement functions of the company with a focus on implementing and managing Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) strategies. This role requires a strategic leader to control inventory at the vendor level, ensure seamless integration with distributor and other business partners, and drive efficiencies in our supply chain processes. The ideal candidate has 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with significant expertise in VMI programs. Key Responsibilities: Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Execution: Develop and execute VMI strategies to manage inventory levels at our facilities, ensuring optimal stock levels and reducing carrying costs. Implement processes to monitor inventory levels and manage replenishment to meet distributor demand without overstocking. Utilize advanced inventory management systems to forecast demand, track inventory levels, and make data-driven decisions. Inventory Control and Management: Oversee inventory control processes to maintain accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies. Coordinate with production teams to align inventory levels with manufacturing schedules and sales forecasts. Implement inventory optimization techniques to balance supply and demand, ensuring timely product availability for distributors. Distribution Coordination: Manage the logistics of pushing inventory to distributors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery based on distributor needs and demand forecasts. Develop and maintain effective distribution schedules to enhance supply chain efficiency and meet delivery commitments. Address and resolve any issues related to inventory distribution, including delays or discrepancies. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, sales, and logistics teams to align procurement and inventory management activities with overall business objectives. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on inventory performance, VMI effectiveness, and distribution metrics. Lead and mentor the procurement team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Continuous Improvement: Analyze inventory and distribution data to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in VMI and inventory management to drive innovation and optimize processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Or equivalent experience. 8-10 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Proven experience managing Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs. Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, procurement strategies, and inventory optimization. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams. Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills. Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software. Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP). Proficiency in NetSuite is a plus.
