As the Director of Product, Remote Sensing at Umbra, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative SAR-based products and solutions. You'll work closely with engineers, sales, and marketing professionals to ensure that our SAR offerings meet market demands, exceed customer expectations, and advance Umbra's vision. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle, from research-driven ideation through launch, while ensuring alignment with Umbra's mission to support customers in developing actionable insights on a global scale.
This position is Remote unless you reside near Santa Barbara, CA or Arlington, VA -- in those cases it may be Hybrid.
ResponsibilitiesProduct Vision & Strategy: Define and drive the product vision and strategy for Umbra's SAR products and customer interfaces, ensuring alignment with company goals and market opportunities.Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing product team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, provide ongoing coaching, and support individual growth and career development. Ensure the team has the tools, resources, and guidance needed to succeed.Market & Competitive Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand customer needs, emerging trends, and the competitive landscape in Earth observation and SAR technologies.Product Roadmap and Backlog: Develop and manage a comprehensive product roadmap, prioritizing backlog features and enhancements based on customer feedback, market demands, and business impact.PI Planning & Coordination: Actively participate in Program Increment (PI) planning sessions, aligning product priorities with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Coordinate dependencies, set delivery goals, and ensure transparency across teams to meet PI objectives.Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, data science, and operations teams to ensure product development aligns with technical capabilities and resources.Customer Engagement: Engage directly with customers and partners to understand their challenges, gather feedback, and incorporate their insights into product development.Go-to-Market Support: Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to develop effective go-to-market strategies, product messaging, and sales enablement materials.Performance Metrics: Establish and track key product performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of product initiatives and make data-driven decisions.Required QualificationsExperience in SAR Technologies: 8+ years in product management, with 3+ years focused on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) or Earth observation solutions.Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Technical Background: Strong understanding of SAR imaging, satellite data products, and related technologies.
