The Director of Programs will lead program innovation to ensure that (a) experiential learning for Foster School and UW students continues to accelerate skills and knowledge development, (b) programs that serve businesses in underserved communities continue to evolve by incorporating new technologies and business strategies while also accessing IP developed at the UW, and (c) research about businesses owned by people of color continue to emerge from Foster School faculty and that this research impacts student learning and business support programs. The Director of Programs will work in partnership with the Center's Director to ensure the Center's work and impact are visible, understood, and funded, and, when appropriate, design programs responsive to unique funding opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PROGRAM STRATEGY, EXECUTION AND EVALUATION (60%) Ensure continued innovation that builds on the Center's model and founding principles of accelerating student careers, advancing businesses in underserved communities and those owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and creating new knowledge through research.Lead and oversee the day-to-day program execution (including coordination, integration, and delivery of programs), and develop program evaluation systems and impact metrics to ensure program effectiveness.Raise annual operating funds and endowment funding in partnership with the Center's Executive Director, and when appropriate with direct reports, to support programs that advance the Center's mission.Develop and implement strategies that will maximize operational and financial efficiencies across the Center's programs and promote the Center's sustainability.Work collaboratively with the Center Director to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time Bound) goals, monitor progress, and report on progress to goals to internal and external stakeholders including Foster School leadership and external donors and supporters.Work with department chairs and degree program leads to ensure highly skilled faculty are teaching in the Center's programs and, as degree requirements evolve, ensure that courses associated with the Center evolve.PEOPLE MANAGEMENT (15%) Model the organizational culture using the Center's core values.Develop and lead systems and processes that support the skills development of Center staff to enable them to be effective in reaching their goals and in contributing to advancing the Center's mission.Supervise and develop the skills of direct reports.In partnership with the Center Director and direct reports, develop optimal organizational staff structure and division of labor.Establish and lead a system that ensures staff use and comply with UW and Foster School operational systems, processes, controls, and procedures.ACADEMIC LIASON (15%) Lead curriculum development through engagement with faculty, department chairs and degree program leaders.With the Faculty Director, support faculty who research topics relevant to the CBDC's work and impact.With the Faculty Director, assist faculty to "translate" academic writing to writing for the general public and for use to improve the Center's programs.PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION (10%) Develop and manage project management systems that ensure high-quality program execution.In partnership with the Director, create a program and operations budget and monitor spending.Ensure compliance with UW procurement and contracting policies and procedures.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in business, communications, education, economics, ethnic studies, or similar plus a minimum of 6-years experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate has deep expertise in program strategy and delivery, evaluation, team management, and interpersonal communication, and is passionate about growing businesses that build wealth for socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and businesses in under-served communities.
