With a donor-centric emphasis, the Prospect Management Team partners with fundraisers and their managers to facilitate the movement of prospects through the development life cycle. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five-plus years of full-time experience in relationship management, prospect research, data analysis, development, or a related field Advanced degree in a field demonstrated to have some relevance to this position Familiarity with advancement computing systems and data visualization tools, i.e., Qlik Sense and/or Tableau Experience with relational databases or other fundraising software Previous development experience and/or a background in a non-profit or educational institution Knowledge of University policies and procedures is a plus Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director of Research and Prospect Management, the Director of Prospect Management oversees staff in support of maintaining an informative prospect management system that relates directly to goals and targets. It provides overall leadership, oversight, and strategy to the Prospect Management team with regards to prospect management. It directs activities that define the creation and strategic direction of prospect management programs and a portfolio review program. This position determines the cyclical nature of the portfolio review process and design assessment measures to assess the effectiveness of the process. This position plays a critical role in managing and analyzing prospect portfolios by participating in strategy sessions and collaborating closely with the Executive Director and development officers in identifying, analyzing, and pipelining donors/prospects for principal and major gifts. This requires subject-matter expertise in both fundraising and prospect management perspectives to fully engage the fundraisers in strategy sessions that will build successful portfolios. The Director partners with fundraisers in managing and building prospect pipelines and ensuring that prospect management policies and data are up-to-date and meet the needs of UGA Development. Duties/Responsibilities: Supervision and Office Administration: Overall leadership of the unit's mission and activity. Provide leadership, oversight, and strategy to the Prospect Management team. Supervise employees reporting directly to this position to ensure each individual meets all their goals, objectives, and project timelines. Develop a performance plan for each employee and evaluate their performance annually. Direct the Prospect Management team in a coordinated and systematic approach to qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and donor engagement strategies in direct collaboration with development officers, leadership, and campus partners. Develop and execute short-term, long-term, and multi-year strategic plans for Prospect Management to align with fundraising goals and priorities and prepare progress reports for the Executive Director. Meet regularly with the Executive Director to evaluate goals and objectives across DAR and provide improvement support to Prospect Management systems. Develop and implement "best practices" in prospect management for the University of Georgia by staying abreast of current and emerging trends in philanthropy, fundraising, higher education, and business intelligence to improve services and effectiveness. Percentage of time: 45 Duties/Responsibilities: Prospect Analysis, Assignment, Management & Tracking: Collaborate with the Executive Director in monitoring development officers' progress in prospect qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Provide lead support for analysis and interpretation of prospect and donor information and help facilitate communication regarding prospects. Collaborate with the Executive Director, Senior Leadership, and Research to facilitate the assignment of viable prospective donors into the appropriate portfolios. Direct and oversee the process for the implementation of quarterly Prospect Management consultation meetings and communication with development officers. Coordinate and conduct ad-hoc prospect solicitation and strategy sessions as requested and provide portfolio consultation services to fundraisers. Develop projects to streamline systems and processes. Promote and maintain effective working relationships with other departments across the University. Percentage of time: 30 Duties/Responsibilities: Prospect Management Operations and Outreach: Represent the Prospect Management team in meetings or committees as appropriate to provide insight and expertise about prospect tracking, prospect management, and other relevant subjects. Works with impacted staff to assess Prospect Management policies and procedures, serving as the Prospect Management liaison to major, annual, and leadership gift officers and development coordinators as needed. Ensure plans, steps, opportunities, and activities remain current in CRM and generate portfolio and activity analysis reports for assigned development officers. Reviews contact reports (interactions) entered in CRM to identify necessary portfolio changes and update the database accordingly. Create, articulate, establish, and implement Prospect Management system policies, procedures, and training for development officers and university staff. Foster collaborative relationships that increase the understanding of applications for prospect management Develops and refines services to meet the needs of people involved in fundraising and institutional advancement. Percentage of time: 20 Duties/Responsibilities: Professional Development: Participate in continuing professional development opportunities as requested and as resources allow, in order to maintain and enhance skills and stay abreast of current prospect management trends and techniques. Attend Development staff meetings to maintain awareness of institutional and divisional priorities and needs. Perform special assignments and other work on an as-needed basis.
