Position Summary: The Director of Safety & Compliance is responsible for directing and maintaining the health and safety program of TransChicago Truck Group. This position will oversee the development and implementation of behavior-based safety practices, audit functions for health and safety procedures, ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulating bodies.
**This role will be onsite M-F at our Elmhurst location, with as needed travel to our other locations in the Chicago-area** Responsibilities and Duties:Defines, develops, and implements programs to ensure compliance and proper engagement with rules and regulations of the DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, local regulations and company standardsIdentify and recommend improvements to health & safety systems to reduce costs, increase productivity and efficiency, and improve the overall safety cultureMonitor the development and revision of applicable health & safety regulations for potential impacts on locations and operationsCoordinate tracking of company health & safety performance metricsDevelop and implement an internal corporate health & safety audit processPartners with location General Manager's related to facility, security and equipment maintenance.Ensure all locations are in compliance with EPA environmental standards and regulationsServes as System Matter Expert that adheres to and proposes best practices and plans for new regulations, policies, and best practicesManages and leads the safety team meetings as well as develops and implements safety training and awareness programsProvides forklift training to employees on a scheduled basisInvestigates, analyzes, and reports any injury or vehicle accidents or unsafe events and suggests remedial and preventative actionsMaintains DOT driver files & vehicle files as well as performs periodic audits to the DOT driver files to ensure complianceResponsible for running and reviewing MVR reports to ensure complianceWorks with CFO & HR team to process vehicle accident insurance claimsManages the administration of the Clearinghouse entries and reporting requirementsAdministers the vendor certificate of insurance documentsComplete special projects and other duties as assigned Qualifications and Skills:5+ years' experience in transportation industry or safety preferredBachelor's degree preferred in relative fieldCertifications preferred including CSP, OHSTDemonstrated experience developing positive relationships, including effective resolution of compliance issues with state and federal agenciesProven analytical and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to plan, organize, prioritize, and complete multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to protect confidential informationA working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointIn-depth knowledge of: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Federal, state DOT, OHSA and related regulations We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state, or local protected class.
