We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales to join as a founding member of the sales team for our Advertising Solutions (Quests) business line. This role is perfect for someone passionate about the entertainment industry and eager to help companies in this space market to their most dedicated audiences.
This is a global role where you will work in a dynamic, zero-to-one environment to build and grow a new, fast-expanding business line at Discord. You will harness your prior experience in advertising/media/marketing spaces and bring a combination of strategic business thinking, industry relationships, product insights, and an ability to build a significant, recurring book of business with clients.
What You'll Be Doing You will be responsible for hitting revenue and account goals byprospecting and sourcing media buying opportunities with film studios, streaming platforms, television networks, and their media agenciesbuilding & deepening relationships within the entertainment industry with executive stakeholders & key decision makers at the brand direct and agency levelshelping clients achieve business and marketing goals via Discord's ad solutionsbuilding and scaling a best-in-class sales team within the entertainment verticalYou will define and execute effective and repeatable sales motions and operational processes. You will apply an account planning process to prioritize accounts, grow revenue, educate clients, lead strategic client conversations, and navigate complex relationships.You will create and convey compelling sales presentations and proposals utilizing internal and external data.You will become an expert in Discord solutions and adapt recommendations to suit varying client needs.You will be responsible for consulting with clients and contributing to marketing and media plans that enable them to reach their target audiences on Discord.You will demonstrate expertise around the gaming, media, and marketing spaces to clients, within Discord, and in industry forums.Over time you may also be called upon to manage teams.What You Should Have 10+ years of direct experience in direct ad sales, media buying, or digital advertising in the entertainment industryExperience in managing entertainment clients throughout the funnel with a deep understanding of their challenges and objectivesExperience in building relationships with top marketing decision-makers at entertainment studios and their agenciesAbility to analyze data and identify insights to assess campaign performanceAbility to proactively troubleshoot and problem solve quickly and through the proper escalation channelsExperience with marketing and ad technology ecosystem including ability to collect and convey product needs as well as working cross-functionally to diagnose and solve technical problems for clientsExperience in negotiating and structuring standard and non-standard ad buying agreementsExperience in growing, mentoring, and managing sales teamsWhy Discord?
