Position: Director of Security Reports to: VP of Property Classification: Full Time, Exempt Southall is a premier destination bringing nature, produce and people together in a powerful and unique way.
The Director of Security will oversee the property's safety and security operations, ensuring the safety and security of the guests, team members and physical assets.
Responsibilities: Reviews, revises, maintains, and implements the organizations fire prevention, safety, and security policies and procedures. Conducts inspections to identify fire, safety, and security risks; recommends and implements solutions. Conducts risk management audits and asset loss investigations. Coordinates with local law enforcement and safety staff as required to support and/or conduct investigations and prosecutions. Drafts and submits reports and work orders related to fire, safety, and security operations. Promotes and oversees safe work practices. Manages Southall's lost and found program. Ensures perimeter patrol of the property to proactively identify any issues Educates employees on safe working practices, remaining progressive on safety compliance initiatives, and reporting any violations. Creates and leads the hotel's Safety Committee, to work with a team in providing emergency response efforts and training. Provides accident investigation and documentation. Works with the Southall leadership team to monitor potential storms and prepare accordingly. Will keep abreast of developments within the Inn and property as they relate to security as well as act as a liaison with local law-enforcement agencies. Selects, trains, schedules, and manages performance of Security Officers in all aspects of security policies and procedures. Remains informed of current Federal and local laws and regulations as they relate to the property, particularly in areas of guest, patron and employee rights. Handles and documents guest and employee accidents, guest room lock problems, noise complaints, and any questionable individuals on the premises. Implements all policies, procedures, and instructions regarding security and safety. Assists hotel management in handling of unusual guest or employee problems, such as, but not limited to, disorderly conduct, thefts, suicides, bomb threats, employee or guest accidents, fire or safety hazards, robberies, terrorist activities, civil disturbance, power or elevator failures, medical assistance, and natural disasters. Takes an active role in the implementation of the hotel's Crisis Management Plan including the Fire Panel training, Command Post objectives, fire-fighting equipment, and the roles that each employee/manager plays during a crisis situation. Ensures officers are monitoring the Security Cameras and, if needed, review the recorded footage of suspicious incidents. Performs other operations related functions (e.g., conduct uniform and equipment inspections during shift briefings, review and correct officer's incident report/daily activity reports before final distribution, assist in preparation of security surveys/risk assessments).
Skills and Experience: Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, safety, and security operations. Excellent management and supervisory skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in law enforcement, Business Management, or related field preferred. At least five (5) years of safety/security experience required. Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
