Director of Student Career Development POSITION DETAILS The Director of the Office of Career Development (OCD) reports to the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) in the Office of Academic Affairs.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead BCC's OCD through a transformation to make it a national model for responsive, tech-forward, data-driven, student-and employer-centered career services that prepare community college students for in-demand internships and jobs.
WDCE's mission is to equip the greater BCC community with technical and professional skills to launch family-sustaining careers in support of the overall economic development of the Bronx.
We do this by offering low-and no-cost training and certifications for community members and BCC students in high-demand sectors, such as education, healthcare, green jobs, and IT.
In addition, our Office of Career Development provides students with job-readiness and career-building services and connections to internships and jobs.
We are a front-door for employers to BCC, ensuring degree and training programs are responsive to employer demand and employers see BCC as a go-to source of talent.
Within WDCE, OCD prepares all Bronx Community College students—both degree-seeking and continuing education—for internships and jobs related to their education.
OCD achieves this goal by delivering career-building services, programs, and events and partnering with employers.
The OCD team is comprised of Career Specialists, who deliver career services directly to degree-seeking and continuing education students, and college assistants who support the work.
The team is funded through a combination of permanent and grant-funded lines.
New this year, OCD is partnering with an outside non-profit to run a professional attire boutique on campus, providing job-ready students with new, no-cost clothing for interviews and events.
