Job Summary The Sr. Engineering Manager / Director of Technology will report directly to the CFO/Co-Founder and will play a critical role in overseeing the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the Digital Advice Tool (DAT) platform, alongside all applicable infrastructure and internal IT systems. This position ensures the seamless operation of internal systems to support business functions, while also maintaining the organization's SOC2 compliance standards. The role requires a hands-on leader capable of managing both technical projects and teams to achieve strategic goals. The Sr. Engineering Manager / Director will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, security, and performance of all technology operations, while actively participating in roadmap planning, stakeholder communication, and project execution. Candidates must have the ability to manage resource plans for developers to prioritize projects and bring them to successful completion on time and on budget and within scope.  A successful Director of Technology must possess a process-oriented development background to enable them to guide and manage the product development team.  A deep understanding of various software development methodologies, micro services and distributed architectures is also important. Clear, crisp communication skills are required as this position will be responsible for delivering project status reports monthly. Complete technical product development expertise from inception to deployment with the demonstrated ability to provide guidance and direction in tasks is required.   Essential Functions Strategy & PlanningCollaborate with the CFO/Co-Founder and other key stakeholders to set and execute the technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals.Develop and manage a strategy for maintaining and enhancing the DAT platform to meet market needs and operational priorities.Enforce compliance with SOC2 standards across all applicable systems and processes.Operational ManagementManage and oversee all IT systems, infrastructure, and platforms, ensuring uninterrupted operation for internal users.Lead and mentor a team of developers, QA engineers, and IT support staff.Identify project risks and impediments, recommend mitigations, and ensure on-time delivery of key initiatives.Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to ensure that technology solutions meet both business and customer requirements.Technical LeadershipProvide technical oversight for all development and IT operations, ensuring best practices in software design, security, and infrastructure management.Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes, and development methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.Actively participate in architecture discussions to ensure alignment with strategic goals.Leverage technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, and integrations. Required Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2+ years managing teams.Proven expertise in maintaining and enhancing enterprise applications, infrastructure, and IT systems.Familiarity with SOC2 compliance processes and standards.Hands-on experience with C#/.NET, relational databases (e.g., MSSQL), and SPA development.Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and scalability. Additional QualificationsStrong decision-making skills with the ability to operate independently within specified boundaries.Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical discussions for non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage vendor relationships to optimize costs.Experience mentoring teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work culture.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Supervisor ResponsibilitiesManage and mentor the engineering and IT support teams, ensuring alignment with company objectives and project priorities.Location This position requires onsite presence a minimum of 3 days per week in our Austin office.???????
