Salary Range: $126,750.00 To $152,100.00 Annually
Position Summary The position is responsible for the Plastic Sustainability Team's (PST) state and federal policy in support of the ACC's circular economy goals for plastics packaging. This position will advance the PST's circularity goals by navigating highly complex and interrelated issues as well as examine issues, member position, and the political environment to reach consensus. The position will collaborate with State Affairs and Federal Affairs and reports directly to the Senior Director, Plastics Sustainability.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Leads, provides strategic direction, and guides the team's state and federal policy to advance our circular economy goals.Leads, coaches, and mentors policy-related staff to achieve PST objectives.Establishes member-approved advocacy outcomes and strategies.Initiates, plans, and executes plans pursuant to approved strategies to achieve advocacy outcomes.Organizes engaging member meetings, creates member-facing resources, and responds to member needs.Advocates for science-based state and federal policy and opposes adverse policy.Develops subject matter expertise in relevant policy, market, technologies, and sustainability as well as provides expertise to colleagues, members, and stakeholders.Provides written comments, testifies in person, directly advocates with policymakers, and helps create other content in support of PST objectives.Promotes PST objectives among policymakers, industry allies, and other stakeholders through engagement and presenting at conferences, meetings, and coalitions.Achieves PST outcomes on key issues through organizing and leading matrixed teams that include internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications/Requirements Required Bachelor's degree in government, business, sustainability, or related field.Eight years of issue advocacy, public policy, public affairs, grassroots, or related experience.Experience in a related trade association or industry experience.Familiarity with multi-state, federal legislative and regulatory processes.Strong written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to give both internal and external presentations.Ability to work independently on a variety of complex matters simultaneously and manage multiple projects and prioritize issues.Cultivating and managing high-quality relationships.Preferred State legislature, Capitol Hill, agency, or industry trade association experience.Relevant advanced degree or certifications.Prior experience in environmental advocacy and sustainability policy.ACC offers medical, dental, vision as well as a 401(k) matching contribution up to 6% of eligible compensation and an automatic 6% contribution of eligible compensation to the Profit-Sharing Plan, both vested immediately at 100%.
