Climate United will use funding from the EPA under the Inflation Reduction Act to rapidly deploy low- and zero-emission products, technologies, and services to all American communities in order to (1) reduce GHG emissions and other forms of air pollutants; (2) bring direct benefits to American communities in the form of energy security, energy savings, cleaner air, and quality jobs; and (3) transform the capital markets so they can drive an equitable clean energy transition at scale. Job Description:
Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit ("Climate United"), is seeking a full-timeDirector of Policy to lead our policy and government relations work. The Director will be instrumental in shaping and executing comprehensive policy strategies, including analyzing federal and state policy landscapes and educating and engaging elected officials and state and federal staff in the work of Climate United and the National Clean Investment Fund program, a pivotal program driving an equitable clean energy transition. This role will collaborate closely with other Climate United teams including Strategy, Community Outreach, Investments, and Compliance, as well as the leadership team broadly, Climate United coalition partners, and other GGRF awardees. This role reports to the Chief Partnership and Strategy Officer and is a supervisory role.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute policy strategies for Climate UnitedAnalyze state and federal policy landscapes to inform investment and market-building strategiesBuild and maintain relationships on Capitol Hill, with relevant federal agency staff, and with elected officials and staff at the state levelEngage with federal and state agencies and programs that are complementary to Climate United's investment and market-building strategiesCoordinate coalition-wide policy activitiesDevelop and provide legislative updates as needed, and engage in scenario planningBuild Climate United's thought leadership with policymakers at the federal, state and municipal levelsSupervise policy staff and/or contractors as neededRequired Qualifications:
At least 10 years of policy, legislative or government relations experience, and at least 5 years at the federal levelDeep understanding of the Inflation Reduction Act and other related incentives and programsDemonstrated experience in leading teams with strong leadership and decision-making abilitiesExperience with climate, workforce, and/or clean energy finance a plusExceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data insights for informed decision-making and performance optimization.Passionate about the mission and vision of Climate United and committed to driving positive change towards an equitable energy transition.Possesses intellectual curiosity, integrity, and a collaborative mindset, contributing to a positive team-oriented culture.Passionate about the mission and work of Climate United, Calvert Impact, and committed to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area.
