The Director of Strategic Pricing is responsible for owning and developing restaurant pricing strategy, building and developing a small Pricing Team, using analytics to test & learn to dynamically adapt and refine tactics, providing pricing recommendations and making pricing decisions, managing pricing-related reporting for key stakeholders, and identifying / implementing more sophisticated pricing processes and tools. High visibility within the company including regular interactions with senior leadership, operations, marketing, menu strategy, and financial planning & analysis.
• Own development and implementation of pricing strategy including price position targets, pricing model (EDLP vs. promotional mix) and pricing architecture guardrails & policies (across menu & store tiers).
• Manage pricing via cross-functional stakeholders & teams to optimize for financial impact & customer perception.
• Own and manage overall pricing transformation roadmap and price change strategy.
• Direct pricing pilots to test & learn including:
• Defining approach to testing, detailing design of specific tests and coordinating rollout/ launch in stores, and using analytics to dynamically adapt and refine pricing tactics.
• Demonstrate strong business judgement in overseeing recommendation of price changes based on historical analyses, competitive price intelligence and inflationary/ cost impacts.
• Develop impactful reporting for key stakeholders and manage compliance for pricing across the organization
• Lead cross-functional team in driving pricing transformation and improving consumer value perception through menu design, pricing / menu architecture, price communications / messaging, promotions and other value levers. Build and develop capabilities of Pricing team.
• Develop strategic pricing processes and corresponding governance for on-going management of price including gathering relevant competitive intelligence, leveraging pricing tools, interfacing with relevant functions in the organization, and measuring the impact of price changes
• Responsible for demonstrating mastery of company data sources across all functions and ability to leverage the data to derive correct insights.
• Manage implementation and use of enterprise pricing tools, extracting maximum benefit from tools
Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, marketing, analytics, statistics, business, or related field
• Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
• Background in making data-driven pricing decisions and leveraging tools to strategically optimize pricing
• 8+ years of relevant pricing-focused experience
• Restaurant and/or hospitality experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent oral, written, presentation and time-management skills
• Experience using and/or implementing pricing tools, IT-savvy
• Strong executive presence; can build credibility with others in the organization and successfully work via influence
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills including leading data-intensive processes
• Experience in financial analyses, budgeting / planning and forecasting impact of initiatives
• Experience implementing new processes and/or building new teams
• Ability to manage Pricing team
Working Environment •Hybrid role, in office Monday-Wednesday; remote flexibility Thursday and Friday.
