The Director of Purchasing administers services associated with distribution, inventory, printing, purchasing, and receiving. Responsible for all phases of procurement connected with the Clinic services, equipment, and inventory supply.
Job Relationships
Reports to the Chief Financial Officer
Principal Responsibilities Establishes effective procurement policies and procedures to regulate all phases of purchasing.Supervises and administers the activities of the Purchasing Manager, Buyer, Materials Management Clerks, and Printer.Directs procurement activities for all departments and coordinates with other departments to ensure effective planning and execution.Coordinates with Accounting Department for proper budget and code accounting.Makes specific assignments to team members to conclude projects within budget and time schedules.Determines purchasing needs based on standards and recommendations from Department Directors.Directs the development of detailed purchase specifications for all items.Advises Senior Management and Department Directors of new products or techniques.Directs market research to ensure competitive pricing.Ensures all purchasing activities are efficient, ethical, and within budget.Responsible for timely procurement of materials, supplies, and services at optimum costs.Implements and maintains a preventive and expediting program for on-time deliveries.Consummates major capital purchases or directs procurement as per authorized requisitions.Maintains and expands reliable sources of supply.Enforces ethical practices in dealings with suppliers and manages incident reports.Recommends improvements in internal purchasing procedures.Complies with incident reporting policies and OSHA training requirements.Provides excellent customer service and adheres to SC Way customer service philosophy.Performs other job duties as assigned. Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in business or a related area preferred.
Three to five (3-5) years of management experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Computer skills with a focus on Purchasing/Inventory. Microsoft Office software skills required. Inventory and purchasing knowledge through formal education or experience required; knowledge of medical products preferred. Capability to work under stress to provide maximum service. Requires excellent organizational skills. Must possess the ability to deal with people effectively and professionally. Must be a self-starter with problem-solving abilities.
