About the Job:
DIRECTOR SURGICAL SERVICES
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Director of Surgical Services to oversee the coordination of clinical and non-clinical activities in Perioperative Services at our San Ramon, CA location.
This strategic leadership position requires someone with a strong background in nursing and hospital management, tasked with the overarching responsibility of managing Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Outpatient Surgery, GI Lab, Sterile Processing, Cath Lab, Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Donor Network.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to excellence and fulfilling the goals of each department aligned with the hospital's mission.
Compensation: $175,000.00 - $275,000.00
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide overall managerial direction across all aspects of Perioperative Services, including strategic planning, leading, organizing, and controlling.
Ensure the highest quality of care and operational efficiency for all functional areas within Perioperative Services.
Develop and maintain cardiovascular service lines under the direction of the CEO and in alignment with strategic goals.
Collaborate with medical staff, department heads, and administrative leadership to achieve clinical and business objectives.
Maintain 24-hour accountability and responsibility for staff performance and patient outcomes.
Promote professional development of staff through education, performance improvement, and appropriate clinical interventions.
Facilitate strong communication lines within the department, across hospital services, and with external stakeholders.
Responsible for departmental budgeting and resource allocation to optimize cost efficiency and service quality.
Implement new policies and modify existing protocols in response to changing healthcare environment and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice.
Minimum of an Associate degree from an accredited nursing school, Bachelor's degree in a health-care related field or a BSN.
At least 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
Strong operational and financial acumen, with proven ability to manage budgets and resources.
Possess current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA certified).
Preferred Qualifications:
MSN or Master's degree in a health care related field strongly preferred.
Certification in the perioperative field strongly preferred.
Prior experience in similar leadership roles within high-volume, complex healthcare settings.
Skills:
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven leadership ability, with capacity to foster a cooperative work environment.
Extensive knowledge of clinical and surgical procedures as well as administrative practices.
Ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the nursing professional discipline.
