Please review the job details below.Tax DirectorMaxar is currently seeking a Director of Tax to join a small team in Westminster, CO. In your role as a Tax Director, you will be responsible for all tax-related activities within the company and ensure that all matters related to taxes are handled promptly and accurately, including meeting all income and operating tax compliance requirements at the federal, state and local tax levels. This position will also be responsible for developing new tax strategies, understanding international tax policies / requirements for our international footprint and maintaining policies for the business, including setting up new tax forms or implementing new accounting methods.ResponsibilitiesTimely and accurate financial reporting and disclosure for all aspects of US GAAP and quarterly and annual tax accounting and reporting including the ASC 740 tax provision process.Identify, analyze and document exposures for FIN 48/ASC 741-10 reserves.Identify and resolve GAAP technical tax accounting matters as they arise.Calculate quarterly and annual effective tax rates; work with treasury team to forecast cash taxes.Collaborate with internal and external teams to successfully meet income tax compliance requirements for quarterly estimates and annual income tax returns.Provide review/oversight for all other operating tax compliance requirements.Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of developments to the management team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to tax laws.Manage technology and processes to ensure efficient and effective data gathering for tax return purposes; develop new policies/procedures as needed for tax compliance; recommend change and where needed to improve processes; maintain concurrent audit-ready workpapers and financial records for all filings.Manage income and other tax audits and inquiries by government authorities.Assist to identify, analyze and implement tax planning opportunities, including for M&A transactions and business initiatives.Foster a culture of tax compliance and awareness throughout the organisation, providing training and support as needed.Strong understanding of state and local taxes as well as GST / VAT taxes in relevant international locationsMonitoring and maintaining global tax complianceManaging and overseeing the filing of regular tax returns, including income tax, GST and other direct or indirect taxes.QualificationsMust be a U.S. Citizen or permanent residentProfessional qualification of Certified Public Accountant (CPA).Strong understanding of tax planning strategies and experience in managing indirect taxes, including Goods and Services Tax (GST).Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting or other finance fieldMinimum of 10 years' experience in tax rolesPrevious experience as a Tax Director or experience in a similar roleSufficient knowledge in tax accounting, tax compliance and tax returnsAbility to work and meet required deadlinesProblem solving mentalityGreat communication skills with the ability to build and develop relationshipsExceptional leadership and management skillsExcellent attention to detail and analytical skillsProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsStrong written and oral communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with SAP or similar ERP softwareExperience in leading and managing a finance team#LI-AE1In support of pay transparency at Maxar, we disclose salary ranges on all of our U.S. job postings. To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience.
