Direction Transmission and Interconnection - Solar (Utility Scale Renewables) Leap29 have a fantastic opportunity which is available, as Senior Director Interconnection, on behalf of a company who are headquartered in California and have a strong pipeline of projects across ERCOT and CAISO.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the interconnection efforts for projects within the ERCOT and CAISO regions. Collaborate with development and technical teams to manage the entire interconnection process, including financial fees, risks, and securities from application to project commissioning. Work closely with Executive Management to shape and implement the U.S. strategy. Build and maintain effective relationships with ISOs, RTOs, transmission service providers, and consultants to ensure projects stay on track. Oversee the interconnection study process, providing risk assessments and strategies to ensure construction readiness within deadlines. Manage multiple interconnection projects at different stages of development. Supervise the technical aspects of interconnection equipment, including inverters, main power transformers, and HV circuit breakers. Support the development of internal processes, manage external consultants, assist with project scheduling and budget management, represent the company at industry events, and contribute to the leadership of the U.S. Development team. Conduct due diligence on renewable energy project acquisition targets in key markets. Apply advanced computer skills and explore new software platforms for transmission analysis and project capacity assessments. Qualifications: 10+ years of experience with high-voltage interconnections for renewable energy projects, including leadership roles. Ability to excel in a remote, entrepreneurial environment. Familiarity with major power markets (ERCOT, CAISO). Demonstrated success leading teams of internal and external professionals to advance multiple interconnection projects. Hands-on experience with interconnection design and project modeling. Strong connections with ISOs, utilities, and transmission service providers. Goal-oriented, organized leadership style that fosters accountability and team empowerment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate options and recommendations to management. Proven ability to drive the team towards achieving project milestones. Willingness to travel frequently. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
