Overview: As the Director of Transportation Systems, you will lead the selection, architecture, and support of our logistics and transportation systems.
You will report to the CIO and collaborate closely with the VP of Logistics, the IT Leadership Team, software vendors, and third-party contractors to ensure seamless operations and system enhancements that meet our business needs.
Responsibilities: System Needs Assessment: Partner with the VP of Logistics to identify and understand the transportation system requirements for CNG, encompassing North American ground transportation (including dedicated fleet, third-party carriers for FTL and LTL, and parcels/courier services) and global ocean freight.System Enhancement: Evaluate and enhance current systems (primarily Oracle Transportation Manager and Omnitrac) to align with business requirements and improve efficiency.Integration Development: Design and oversee the integration of third-party logistics providers, including API and EDI integrations.System Support: Manage the operation and support of logistics systems, addressing user help desk requests, handling upgrades, and managing necessary downtimes.Vendor Management: Maintain strong relationships with software vendors (Oracle, Solara, etc.)
and provide internal teams with insights into product roadmaps and capabilities.Third-Party Integration: Integrate third-party information sources (e.g., Inttra, Project 44, Terminal 49) and manage relationships with these vendors.Consultant Management: Oversee third-party consultants (e.g., KSAP) providing technical expertise and development in logistics systems.Application Integration: Collaborate with other IT application groups to ensure seamless integration with existing business systems (e.g., ERP and reporting/BI).Infrastructure Coordination: Work with the IT Infrastructure group to optimize system performance, availability, and security for logistics systems.Project Management: Lead projects within the logistics domain, addressing any concerns and ensuring successful delivery.Budget Management: Manage technology and systems expenditures within the logistics applications area. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience: 8-10 years of IT business application experience, including at least 3-4 years as a business analyst and project manager.Supply Chain Expertise: Strong background in supply chain and logistics, with knowledge of ocean freight, ground transportation management, and associated EDI transactions.Technical Skills: Proficiency with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) is essential.Travel: Ability to travel occasionally (not more than 25%, varying based on project needs).Certifications: PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
APICS or other supply chain/logistics certification is also advantageous.
