Description Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the general cleaning and sanitation of the entire community's food preparation and service areas as directed by the Director of Dining.They will clean all food preparation equipment and service utensils including but not limited to walls, coolers, stoves, pots, pans, and knives.
All areas should be maintained in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards.
Key Responsibilities Set up, break down and properly clean all equipment pertaining to food service areas.
Properly fill and maintain cleanliness and temperature of all water basins necessary for sanitation.
Washes and sanitizes all utensils used in food preparation and service.
Follow set guidelines that pertain to all proper cleaning, sanitizing, drying and storage of service utensils.
Assures all utensils are sanitized, cleaned, and dried properly prior to returning to proper storage areas.
Thoroughly cleans work area and all equipment used in food preparation and handling.
Completes dish machine temperature log sheets and removes all labels from food storage utensils.
Remove all trash from designated dietary service areas to dumpster area and ensure proper disposal of trash.
Keeps all work areas including dish and kitchen area in a clean and organized fashion.
Maintains all floors and drains by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing as required.
Ensures all food preparation areas are cleaned in accordance with established procedures.
Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties.
Provides a clean safe and neat work environment for residents, self and staff.
Maintains a clean and sanitized work area in a clean as you go fashion.
Complies with WWSL standards of conduct and job-related behavior.
Attends meetings and takes required on-line courses and training when scheduled.
Complies with annual employee health assessment.
Complies with hazardous material management procedures and follows safety and sanitation rules.
Operates fire extinguisher and kitchen equipment correctly and safely.
Communicates and provides friendly service to residents and guests and cooperates with staff of other departments.
Performs other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
One year of related experience and/or training preferred but not required.
The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Experience in a retirement community or dining establishment preferred.
May be required to wear uniforms.
Working Conditions Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

This position will generally work 40 hours per week; however, the position requires a willingness and flexibility in working hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities including occasional evening or weekend work.
