?As a Dosimetrist, you will be responsible for providing high quality treatment plans and organizing the radiation treatment workflow. The caregiver in this role will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and learn from other team members. Our ideal caregiver is familiar with Pinnacle treatment planning system, but we are open to someone who has general treatment planning skills. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to: 
Using computer-aided designs to create plans for radiation treatment. 
Calculating the values of necessary parameters to deliver the prescribed radiation dose and dose distributions. 
Assisting in complex treatment setups at CT simulation and/or at treatment. 
Assisting in clinical instruction of therapists, therapy students, dosimetry students and residents in existing and new procedures.

Job Responsibilities: Designs treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation with optimal beam geometry to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and spare critical structures in accordance with the radiation oncologist's prescription. Identifies and contours normal and dose-limiting structures by utilizing images from one or more data sets. Assumes proficiency in image registration with various image data sets to include CT, MRI and PET. Creates and transfers reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery to include DRRs, CBCTs and other IGRT methods, as specified. Supervises, performs, or assists in simulations and tumor localization using specified imaging devices including, but not limited to CT, MRI, and PET. Supervises, performs, or assists in the planning and implementation of the fabrication of compensation filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam modifying devices. Supervises, performs, or assists in the planning and implementation of the production of molds, casts, and other immobilization devices. Communicates with the radiation therapist(s) and assumes an advisory role in the implementation of the treatment plan including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters. Performs calculations for the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose, document all pertinent information in the patient record, and verify the mathematical accuracy of all calculations by an approved method. Provides assistance and technical support to the medical physicist, in radiation safety and protection, qualitative machine calibrations, quality assurance of treatment plans and radiation oncology equipment. Operates and performs quality assurance, under the direction of the Medical Physicist, on the treatment planning computer(s). Supervises, performs, or assists in the application of specific methods of patient and/or beam dosimetry as directed by the Medical Physicist. Teaches applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students, radiation therapists and residents. Participates in clinical research and continuing education. Participates in quality improvement processes. Bills for calculations, plans, custom MLC, etc. per patient according to department and CCF policy and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Education: Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics or engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college or university, and supplemental training leaning toward the CMD certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. Certifications: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board or equivalent preferred. CMD certification or equivalent required within 48 months of hire. Competencies: Ability to use sophisticated computer and software. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.  Work Experience: Completion of an appropriate training program. Knowledge of simulation processes, treatment planning paradigms such as forward and inverse planning, in-vivo dosimetric measurements, and record and verify systems. Physical Requirements: A high degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Extensive sitting and frequent walking. Ability to participate in assisting patients on and off treatment couches. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment, as required.
