From the start you will be ready to operate with reasonable autonomy, responsibility and accountability to make an effective and efficient contribution. You will assess plans, inspect sites, offer constructive guidance, ensure building regulations are correctly interpreted and followed, make decisions, and provide assurance. When demonstrating your calibre, you should exhibit good construction industry knowledge, specifically Building Control duties, methods, and techniques. Understanding of legislation, regulations and professional codes of practice for the sector are expected.
You must be registered (or working towards registration) with the Building Safety Regulator at Level 2 or higher. We can also offer help to willing candidates who need further time, training and development; but show the ability to attain Registration with our support.
In return, we are happy to talk about flexible working arrangements. You could blend home, remote, office and site working. Full time hours are 37 a week, but we are open to discussing "any hours" flexibility, allowing for individual work/life balance, such as part time, school hours only, term-time only or 9-day fortnights. In addition to the basic salary, a Market Forces Supplement can be applied to this role to increase this. You will also have the chance to join the emergency/dangerous structures response rota and earn additional payments. You will also be reimbursed for any work travel expenses, although working locally in Colchester means that you will not need to travel far and spend hours driving.
